The plastic insert in my hard hat cracked and rather than buying a new hard hat I wonder if you can get a replacement insert preferably in the Dublin area or even near Lucan? I only use the HH in the attic to save the bald patch from "kissing" the rafters!

Just saw that I can get a new hard hat for 5 or 6 euros - so I reckon that's easier than replacing the insert.

Saw a piece on a program called Fake Britain on the BBC where they looked at fake safety hats (and other personal safety equipment) coming in from China. Whereas the hat itself withstood the official UK safety test, the insert snapped instantly, rendering the whole thing effectively useless. Now, in your case that probably didn't matter, but the fact that the insert broke at all would have me wondering how genuine it was.

Thanks Alun - I have it a good few years so it owes me nothing. And its either that or a heavy wolly hat in the attic! I'll pick one up in a local bulders providers in the morning
