    Hi there,

I'm looking to sell my 2011 zetec 2.0litre mondeo hatchback. Unfortunately I'm the 3rd owner of it as it was originally registered as demo model. It's in great condition. It has 73000km on it. I am selling it for cash. Not a trade in. Any idea what reasonable cash price I should be able to get from trade or dealer. Also where is best place to sell it for cash?

    Thx

Considering a new one (although lower spec and smaller engine) is 24k I'd be thinking 13-14k.

I'd be hovering around the 15k mark, no harm in looking for a bit more, even though that will be haggled upon. The 3 owner thing is the only downer, People seem to be discouraged by the amount of owners a car has, especially at 2 years old.

Thanks to you both. Do you think I would get that from a dealer? I contacted a garage today and they quoted much lower than either of you mentioned :( any ideas where best place to get best value is? I'm based in Leinster. Thx

Serious? Go on Carzone and see what a dealer is selling a car similar to yours for? Look at this for example, this fella is expensive anyway, but you get the picture, and obviously they want their profit...

Also, what are you trading it against?

Not trading it against anything. Contacted garage who buys cars for cash. Maybe that's why offer so low?

Forget about trying to sell it to a garage. They will want to buy it cheap in order to sell it on and give a warranty with it. If you want to get the best money for it then sell it privately yourself.

Also forget about looking on carzone for ideas of prices. Carzone is mostly populated by dealers which is of no use to someone selling a car privately. Remember that carzone prices are asking prices and as most are dealer asking prices they will include room for haggling and a warranty which you will not offer. Donedeal.ie is mostly used for selling cars privately and while there can be dreamers on there, generally it will give you a better picture of what other private sellers are asking for theirs.

Just to give you an idea here is a similar one asking just over €13k:

Probably useful to stick the ad up here also if you want some pointers or feedback, people are generally v helpful.

Selling it to a cash for cars place means that you are deducting their profit margin from the price that you will get.

Stick her up on DoneDeal and post the ad here. You should realise 13-14k from the sale, a bit less if you want it sold ASAP

Just noticed there that the car in the link I posted is actually a 2010 Mondeo despite it saying 2011 in the advert header.

If your car is in good nick then a 2011 Zetec should fetch around €14,500/€15000. You could advertise it for a bit more depending on how quickly you want it sold.

Thanks E30i. I will do that. Also, does anyone know really how successful Done deal is for selling cars at the €13-15k range? Obviously it depends on ad and the car itself, but do cars at this price really sell privately?

Where did you spot the 2010 as a matter of interest. I didn't see anything to suggest it was anything but 11 so well spotted.

It will be difficult enough allright. The Mondeo on Donedeal for 13,150 looks to be from a dealer if you look for other ads from the seller. He might be giving some warranty etc.

I'd say the price would need to be as tight as you can go, leaving a couple of hundred wriggle room. Condition and service history would need to be good as well to get peoples attention and get them to view your car. Best of luck.
