    Hi All,

A friend of mine's computer has been acting up, looks like the SSD is shot in it, he doesn't want to go back to a non-SSD life so I'll need to replace it for him, can anyone recommend a ~128GB drive at a good price for him? All that's going to be going onto it is the OS as he has loads of other storage.

    Thanks

Whats the Max budget? A good price depends on how much you are willing to spend. :)

Hard to beat this price on samsungs newest range of ssds

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E391KA8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

about 89 euro delivered for the 120GB model, cheaper than a crucial m4, samsung 840 and the crucial m500 for the 128gb models

I used to have a Samsung 840 basic 120gb bought on scan and it failed after maybe 3-4 months. I replaced it with this one:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-2-5-inch-120GB/dp/B007R67FNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384013409&sr=8-1&keywords=kingston+hyperx+3k+120+gb

And to be honest I just feel the difference in even daily use. It's very fast and at a good price. It might have been that I was unlucky with my Samsung but having used these 2 different models I would not pick Samsung again.

Around 5% of electronics fail in the first year.

Basing your opinion of a company based on 1 product failure isn't really how you should do it.

The Old drive is a Kingston v series 128, I'm guessing around 100 for the budget

Samsung. 89 delivered. Is a good price. 11 euro left over for some bottles of brew.

What's the main difference between the Samsung EVO & the Samsung 840 Pro, aside from the price that is? And what do they mean when they say "Samsung EVO Basic?"

Quality of hardware and warranty is a big part too.

More reliable with big amounts of data read and written.
