The 2013 version of this bike can be purchased for just over €1300 on Evans Cycles however the 2014 one is €1799. I should be able to avail of the bike to work scheme in about another 4 months. So with the €500 tax relief the 2014 bike will be around the same price as the 2013 one. Is there much of a difference in the spec to justify me using up my BTW allowance or should I hold onto this so I could use it at a later stage and just get the 2013 one. I hear an older bike of the same make and model can be better speced then a newer one. Just looking for advice:D

The only differences, apart from colour, that I can see are : the 2013 is specified with a compact chainset, the 2014, with a standard. And the hubs and rims are slightly difference, maybe only a difference in model number.
    2013 would be my choice.

The 2013 is €50 cheaper and has a nicer paint job and a compact chainset, besides that, they are pretty much identical.

And why s the website calling them "CAAD8 10", hey are CAAD10's .
    CAAD8 is the model down.

Lighter, stiffer and smoother than many of its carbon competitors, it is simply the world’s finest aluminum road racing machine. Lighter, stiffer, and smoother riding than many elite carbon frames.
Elite Race Geometry: Unlike much of the competition at these price points, the CAAD10 is a thoroughbred racer. Its geometry is virtually identical to our SuperSix EVO for razor-sharp cornering and aggressive race positioning

So.............why isn't this bike the no. 1 choice of all amateur racers ?

For the same price (or near same) would you rather have a carbon frame or this 'thoroughbred' racehorse ?

Does anyone have one ? I don't remember seeing one this year or last, unless they all escaped my eagle eye, ok ok I wasn't looking that hard!

Certainly if anything happens my Planet X SL Pro carbon frame, or when it comes time to change a CAAD10 will be right at the top of the shopping list.

Higher spec 2013 version here might be an option at €1675

The CAAD10 is probably the bets aluminium frame on the market.

Maybe this one would give it a run for it's money ? ;)

    Cervelo S1

    Cervelo S1

The S1 is ugly as sin though, that downtube is disgusting.

And scores lower in reviews on both bikeradar and road.cc reviews.
    It's also more expensive.

I wouldn't care what material a bike frame is made of. I would choose the one that feels nicer, last longer or looks better, whatever my preferences are.

Yeah, there are good few guys here riding these. I have one as well. Great bike.
