Don't see why not - it doesn't look like the strap functions as any kind of antenna for the device's wireless functions. What's the lug width and what type of strap are you lucking for?

Thanks for the reply mate. It's got a lug width of 16mm and I'll take any type of strap as long as it's good quality and long lasting (I hope that's what you mean - I'm new to this! Just googled what lug width is!). As I said the staff in the jewellers here in Limerick reacted as if I was asking the earth!

I think they have most type of straps so you should find something. 16mm is quite small but you should still be OK. It might be worth your while to get a strap changing tool.

I would check out the swamp for 16mm resin sraps, a lot of G-Shocks have 16mm lug ends and with a little paring you may get one to fit.
