Hi guys I'm just wondering how do I get strava to work with my cadence and HR sensors? I have the strava premium app by the way.

    Thanks.

Buy a phone that can talk to the sensors. ie ant+

Edit: unless by premium you mean about the strava service, in which case you need a device that can talk to the sensors, like a garmin

As Idleater said you need a phone that can talk ANT+, such as:

Samsung Galaxy S4 (and hopefully the S3 soon. It has the radio but lacks the software)
    Sony Experia X10, X10 Mini, Z1, Z1 Pro and a few others
    HTC Rhyme

or an iPhone with an ANT+ dongle such as the one from Wahoo.

You can also get a USB OTG connector and use any USB ANT+ dongle, but the software support is woeful and not work the effort.

I've tried many times to find a solution that works with a phone, but ended up getting a Garmin Edge 500 instead, and I've never looked back.

If not already done, you need to "pair" your cadence and HR sensors with the Garmin 800. All ride data will then upload automatically to Strava when next you plug in the device to your 'puter.

But do you need ant+ on your phone for this to upload?

You don't need your phone at all if you have a Garmin. Just plug it into your computer and upload rides there to the Strava site.

I think you are confused with what does what.

The sensors transmit data via ant to whatever is listening (paired). Ant is a bluetooth variant.
Any device that can listen to ant data can pair with a sensor.
Such devices may just display the data, or perhaps store it. Your 800 is an example here.
Other devices may track or record location data, for display or for uploading later. Again, your 800 can do this, as can the strava app on your phone, but it may not be able to pair with the sensors.

Hey, I work with Strava support. If you want to connect to ANT+ sensors with the mobile app, you would need to record with an iPhone and use the Wahoo ANT+ dongle which will connect to pretty much any ANT+ sensor like heart rate monitors, speed/cadence sensors, and power meters.

Otherwise, you're best off just recording with the 800 which should pair automatically (as long as you have it set to search for sensors) with your sensors. Then you'll get the complete Premium analysis features for those activities on the mobile apps and on the website.

    Cheers,
    Travis

I understand what it does but my phone is not compatible (galaxy s3) snd therefore it wont work.

But my phone will upload something recorded in its strava app to my strava profile and it doesn't support ant+.

As it happens my phone will upload from my garmin 500 to my strava profile via usbotg but this has nothing to do with ant+.

Any intention of adding support for Android phones that support Ant+? e.g. SGS4, Xperia Z1, Galaxy Note 3?

S4 working perfectly with Garmin GSC-10 Cadence sensor.
As Strava doesn't support this I switched to Endomondo.

Installed free app and it connected to Cadence Sensor straight off.
Its great having this, might add heart monitor now.
Endomondo isn't bad either, gathers some good stats.

I also export the club spins to strava which does me...

Cant see though why STRAVA are so "Whatever" about ANT+ / Andorid support..
How hard can it be when everyone else has it....
