The bloody local stations down here in the south east, WLRFM, and KCLR.First one has a bunch of annoying clowns, self opinionated and not funny presenters the second practically talks flippin non stop about GAA.....

Nationally, Newstalk needs to upgrade their transmitters down here instead of sending presenters here, there and everywhere.Bad reception.

Reception of Newstalk in Kilkenny should be ok on 107.2. That's Mt. Leinster and it's quite powerful. I can get that same transmitter here (when in the shadow of Slieve Mish on 107.2) and I'm 170km away from it

Well actually, anytime I do get it anyway clear on a radio, its on 107.6 and even then its at a lower volume to all the other stations.Of course I forget to turn it down when I change and I nearly blow my eardrums..:).Otherwise when I am out and about walking, I have to twist and turn to try and get a signal.Annoying if I want to hear an item on a show.

107.6 is either Dungarvan or Maghera, both well away from Kilkenny. Surprising you can't get 107.4 from either Waterford city or Clonmel, you must live in a strange part of Kilkenny  Do you get RTE R1 on 89.6 or what?

Fcuking GAA I hate it  On c103 in Cork they have the two most annoying GAA presenters and commentators in Ireland. One of them talks with a lisp and gets overly excited when doing commentary on a match  The other fella isn't much better annoying voice without the lisp.

If that's the newsreaders you're on about they're Spin 1038 presenters, the news is networked from Dublin. I never noticed that about the regular presenters tho (they don't talk that much anyway).

    'was that a try lin'?

'ya, i think it was lin but i couldn't see it'

The news is even worse especially when it comes to Sport. The poor ladies doing it pronounce a well known sporting name /team name incorrectly every single day.. cringe

Spin south West, not just the news readers, it is very Americanised, so annoying!

If WLR regularly wins independent station of the year, then the rest must be hellish indeed.

    4FM.

I just find many of the shows and the opinions of their callers highly distasteful. And no I'm not a black african, homosexual, east european, asylum seeker, traveller or any of the other minorities they blame for everything that is wrong with the country.

    Yes. 100% agree.

I could just be getting too old. But can't stand them. That Fergal D'arcy goof BREATHES TOO HEAVY. Does my head in.

    Too Americanised. Think they're hilarious.

I stopped listening to Today FM during the day for fear of accidentally hearing Ray Foley but found out yesterday that he's gone! Hooray!

I love Radio 1 but when Joe Duffy comes on the quality plummets and it instantly becomes the worst station until his show ends. He's like an Irish Gerry Springer or something.

Mid-West Radio (otherwise known as bog west)

    Any station that doesn't call the news "The News";

    "The low-down".
    "The goss".
    "The story".

It's the news, for Jaysus sake. The country is dumbed down enough without this muck. Just like TV3 calling their evening news "The 5.30".

The 5.30 what? The 5.30 oil change? The 5.30 window clean? The 5.30 muck out? The news, the news, it's the shaggin' news!

Spin 1038 - Non stop repeat drivel.
Although that being said, I do like we love movies, but that's very much the exception rather than the rule.

Seconded. Thank God my mother has a telly in the kitchen now and only switches to it for GAA.

    Limerick's Live 95FM
Listen to it long enough and you can predict the next song coming up from its song bank.

The thing is, stations like that are only doing 'news' in any form because they're obliged to by the Broadcasting Authority, and I'm sure most of their listeners have no interest. These regulations should be binned and let radio stations do what is in their commercial interests.

Newstalk or should I say Mentalk. Mostly right wing middle aged men all day. And the sport is gone to hell since OTB team left.

This'll probably sound sexist but some of the worst shows on Newstalk have been fronted by women.

    Dil's Victim Village.

Norah Casey's disastrous turn on Breakfast.

Orla Barry's Green Room isn't too bad but a bit too airy-fairy for my liking.

Anyone who takes Sarah Carey seriously anymore needs to read up a bit on her.

Shona Murray has been good, the bit I've heard of her, as was Carol Coleman.

All of the above said, there isn't a woman on Newstalk that can hold a candle to the awfulness that is Bobby Kerr. Jonathon Healy has turned what should be a good show bad. And Chris might be good when he grows up.

The worst shows are run by women. The worst presenters are men.

Spin 1038 - Non stop repeat drivel.

and it used to be 10 times more drivel when it launched

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

Sometimes Today FM drives my head in.

Tipperary Mid West Community radio is pretty awful. They suit their market well, and in fairness to them they are only a community station so from that standpoint they are fine, just can't bear to listen to that.

I do agree with Spin South west, far too americanised. Play music that they don't know what it means.

    I find 4fm good.
