    Hey.
So I sold an item to an Australian on ebay for 119 euro .
When they received it they realised they had purchased it by mistake , which was fine so they sent it back for a refund.
However An post today charged me 44 euro for the package in question.
The Australian Customs stick was half torn of so I couldn't see the value the buyer put on the packet.
However customs claimed it was worth 167 euro which obviously is a bit more.
As a seller do I loose on this 44 euro even though the buyer bought by mistake? Is there any way to get it back?
    Thanks

Do you have to pay customs if it was your item you owned and return back to you? Maybe contact customs directly to clarify.

Do you still have receipts for the original purchase?

customs is decided by revenue - not An post. So An Post physically CANNOT overcharge you.

Duties and vat is payable on the cost of the item PLUS the postage.

a €6 customs entry charge is also applied by an post.

You can contact the customs office in portlaoise (google it) and explain that it was a returned item and they may give you a refund. - Ebay screen shot and email from person returning it will probably suffice.

The cost is charged on item value + shipping cost and on top of that they charge a handling fee.
