Becoming a CE Employer

My boss runs a preschool which is a LTD Company and currently all staff are employed by the school itself.

She's interested in taking on staff on CE , we were ringing FAS today and the person to speak to wasn't available. She's going to ring back tomorrow but in the mean time does anyone know how you go about becoming a CE employer.

We looked online today but any information was to do with becoming a participant and not an employer.

Is it a rigmorole or fairly straight forward ?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it a non profit pre school or a community crèche?

The Community Employment Scheme now comes under the remit of the Department of Social Protection. If you wish to sponsor a scheme then I would contact them first.

Some Fas centres have a DSP CE agent in their offices to facilitate the change over which is still not fully complete.
    Community Employment
    Community Employment Programme

Community Employment is an employment programme which helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return to work routine. The programme assists them to enhance and develop both their technical and personal skills which can then be used in the workplace.

The CE programme is Sponsored by groups wishing to benefit the local community, namely voluntary organisations and public bodies involved in not-for-profit activities.

To participate in the DSP Community Employment programme, you must:

    Register at your local Employment Services Office;
    Meet certain Eligibility Criteria.

DSP gives financial support in the form of Allowances and Funding to assist with the Community Employment programme, for example participant wages, supervisor grants, materials grants, and specific skills training grants.

The training provided through Community Employment is delivered within a Quality Assurance framework. See details of recognised FETAC Awards and qualifications which can be achieved and which lead to major awards on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Contact your local Employment Services Office for further information about Community Employment.

I would say community preschool, not technically a creche as we don't take babies. But its not privately run , its receives funding from the government if thats any help.

Yes, it just wasn't clear from your post if it was a private company. I think it's quite difficult at the moment to get approved as things are in a bit of flux, and it won't be resolved for a couple of months. It is still worth contacting your local CE organiser in the DSP.
