Is UPC blocking some ports required by Steam?

I haven't been able to access Steam since I got the Technicolor router. The ports required are all in "Stealth" mode and refuse any connection from Steam. Forwarding ports or disabling firewalls on the router or my PCs does nothing. Could UPC have blocked specific ports for my IP address? Either this is the case or the router has a firewall that cannot be disabled. I get the following error when using http://www.ismyportblocked.com/?pc=steam:

    Payload Receive Time Out

For TCP port testing, this indicates that the client was able to complete the 3-way handshake (establish a socket), however, after sending the test payload, the client timed out waiting for a reply. The most likely case is that some intervening device (such as a firewall or proxy server) intercepted the connection and established the socket with the client (as opposed to the client establishing a socket directly with the Firebind server.) Then the firewall or proxy dropped the payload since the payload didn't meet the firewall or proxy criteria for passage. For UDP port testing, since there is no 3-way handshake (socket conenction), this generally indicates a firewall blocking UDP traffic for the given port.

I will also request that UPC check this in the Talk To forum but I was wondering if anyone knows what might be causing this and what I can do about it. Not being able to access Steam basically means many PC games cannot be installed or played.

Are you sure windows hasnt set the new AP as a Public one and thus blocked it with windows firewall?

    I doubt its the modem.

No. The AP is set as Home and the firewall on both my PC and router were disable when the ports were scanned. Before I got this router Steam worked fine but now it can't connect to the internet because certain ports are being blocked by UPC or by the router.

    Greetings : )

I have just noticed I have the same problem but not related to steam. I opened some ports back in January of this year and using a port checker they appeared to be open, that was then.

Now when I check the ports they are all blocked. This result is the same on any device/pc I use in the house. I haven't changed anything since.

Did you resolve the issue with steam ?

    If so how ?
