"Luxury" car hire in Dublin

    Hi all,

Myself and my wife are going for a two day break sans enfants and I thought it would be nice to rent a "luxury" car for the trip. The reason for the inverted commas is that my definition might not match everyones idea of luxury. Looking for a BMW, Audi, Santa Fe, ix35 or something along those lines. Budget for the 2 days is around €80. Any suggestions? I've tried the usual suspects (Argus, National, Dollar, Avis, Enterprise etc.) and was wondering if anyone has done something similar.

    Thanks.

I think the usual suspects are your only option for a 2 day rental.

The regular rental places should have a bit more upmarket cars like what you want.
    Did you check www.malonecarrental.com/luxury-car-hire.php

The usual suspects should have something that you're after, but I think you'll need to add to your budget to get it.

www.hertz.ie are showing a 5 Series Auto (or similar) at €128.22 from 8-10 November, on a pre-paid rate, collect & return Dublin Airport

€99.76 for an A4 (or similar).

Usually cheaper over a Saturday night. Book as far in advance as possible.

Hertz always seem to have the nicest cars at the Airport. Non of the others have decent stuff hanging around, but the Hertz compound usually has a few nice motors.

That 128.22 for the Hertz 5 Series becomes 119.28 if you book from the Aer Lingus website or use Discount/CDP code 706409 on Hertz.ie.

I rented a car from Hertz on the SCR on Sunday last & when I went to pick it up there was a 5 series, Jag XF and a Volvo S60 in the compound. When I left it back yesterday morning there was an A5 Sportback waiting for a fill of diesel and a run of the hoover. So Hertz definitely have some nice stuff for rent- no harm in asking for an upgrade when you go to pick it up either:-)

    Thanks for all the feedback.

Ended up needing car for 4 days and found a Rav4 (that's luxury compared to my '99 Accord) on Argus for €74. Pretty decent rate.

    I'd sooner the Accord!

I got a nicely fitted out 2013 Insignia from Enterprise the week before last. It was in great nick and had all the bells and whistles. Was €49 per 24 hours, and that was mid-week so might be cheaper at the weekend.
