Disability Allowance

So just got an illness where I won't be able to seek employment for at least a year.

I was on a momentum course (basically fas) so I was getting a payment similar to BTEA.

Anyway, 3 weeks ago I got my forms all signed by doctors and myself for disability allowance but it was in fact illness benefit forms I was given. Got the proper forms in today and was just wondering anyone know how long it will take for the disability benefit to start coming through? And will I be back dated?

Also, if I go to a relieving officer can they backdate my money to 3 weeks ago?

I can tell you now that they haven't reached the August applications yet.

From the post you made in another thread ,
You could be looking at a 12 -18 month wait and chances are you could be refused or your claim denied

If you were earning €300 or more p.w. you would get the full rate of IB, €188 which is the same as DA.

You can stay on IB for up to two years.

It can take anything from 18-24months to get DA with all the appeals, also you would have a slightly better chance of success if you applied while on IB
