Given that we now know that undersea internet cables are now intercepted and data harvested where they come ashore worldwide by UK or US intelligence..
Does the majority of Ireland's internet traffic come through the UK? Is there an undersea link to the US?

    Are we being spied upon?

So, people think spying is new huh.

Don't know about the rest of you but there's nothing going in or out of my email account worth spying on.

Think 99.999999% of us are safe. Unless they are looking for good porn sites or access to the 40 quid in my account they won't be looking at me.

Ireland (republic) is connected to the rest of the world by 12 undersea cables. 10 of these land at the UK, one lands in the US and the other in Canada. Northern Ireland is connected by 6 undersea cables to mainland UK. One of those connections is a spur on a cable to Canada.

The idea that only terrorists are spied on is a nonsense. Irish people or companies and the government can and do have valuable intellectual property. One should not forget that the Irish Government IT network was attacked by a sophisticated tailored phishing or spear phishing attack only a couple of months ago.

I'm guessing they've blocked my output at this stage. There's a limit to how much shyte even a super-computer can trawl through.
