Hi, not sure if this should be here but i think its worthy

i used to use espares.co.uk when ever i needed spare parts for household appliances and tbh they are very good and very competitive.

but today i was searching for a washer pump for the dishwasher which is about 7 or 8 years old and it was going to cost me at least €100 which to be fair is probaly borderline buying a new one.

    i found this site

    http://www.casaparts.co.uk/index.php

they recycle older parts from machines. they say that they are fully tested and ready to be re-used.

the pump i was looking for is big and heavy so postage is always going to be an issue.

from this site my total spend would be in around €52 including Parcel Motel.

    has anyone used them before?

it seems like a great idea, i always wonder what happens to all those appliances you see lying around at the weee recycle centers in this country?

I would second e spares as ive used them a few times but a backup secondary supplier would be handy to know about.

E spares prices on certain item can be high.

Lately if I need a spare part I have a rummage in my local recycling centre first, free spares.

A lot of the manufacturers will have parts that cover a multitude of models.

Espares can be good however on a number of times I've had goods cancelled as they were out if stock or things taking 3 to 4 weeks to be delivered

It's a great way of saving a few bob, but a lot of centers won't let ya rummage around. Pity, I've got some great things over the years that people have thrown out. A small bit of attention, and it's up and running in no time.

I asked at my local recycle center but the guy told me that the boss doesnt like letting people rummage for parts. it sounds ridiculous tbh but what are you gonna do.

i took the chance at ordering the part anyway so i'll let you know how it goes.

half the price of the local spare parts shop in cork

    drop something on your toes/body.

cut yourself off the metal etc.

basically something that would lead to a claim against them

fair point, could you sign something that would say rummage at your own risk?

Unfortunately legal disclaimers aren't worth the paper on. As you can't take away someone right for compensation.

Make sure you check the official manufacturers sites for parts. I have gotten 3 parts for hoovers and fridges before, and always cheaper than buying from UK spares sites and paying extra shipping...

I have used this crowd in Tinahely Wicklow before for spare parts for my washing machine so would be worth giving them a shout.

There's a company in Tullamore called Exsparetise, I found them to be good, shipping is quite expensive but it's 24 hr. Delivery.

this is a great list of places here in Ireland if only the prices became more competitive with the UK (i know the market is much bigger over there and all that)

i also spoke to these guys in Tullamore yesterday

    http://www.quinnspares.com/

they were more expensive than these guys in cork

i've used Iona a few times in the past and always found them very good.
