Hi there, just wondering has anyone had an experience working in Topaz Company Owned service stations ? have been offered a position in there as a trainee store manager and wanted to know what experiences anyone has had ?

i currently have a job, but this appears to offer more prospects for progressing up in the company ? the salary is good and from the outside and from what I have read they seem very good...

to add to this, I have also been offered a job in Aldi as a assistant manager !
the money is slightly better, but the job role appears to be extremely intensive, in so far as they pay well as they need a workhorse! and a manager to manage the store, but there are very little progression prospects, only to Store manager and thats it.

........apologies, I am extremely greatful but stressed to be in this dillema, any thoughts suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated

I worked for them before, company is good to work for.But I would rather take Aldi. They lost a good few managers in first few months of this year over to Aldi....and they are pretty happy with the move!!

I work in Topaz as a shop assistant, and I find Topaz is a great company to work for. Everyone I work with on my team is very bubbly and has great initiative, we don't really need to be hounded by the manager. There's not much work involved with being a shop assistant, but obviously that would differ if you were to take the managerial position.

I work in a station that gets trainee managers in, (i've only been there to see 2 managers) and while they were both inexperienced in management initially, they settled into the role well. I think it's all about routine and repetition here. Once you've done something a few times it becomes very easy.

Although, be prepared to deal with the shop being robbed on a daily basis. I know a lot of Topaz's have issues with teenagers and kids coming in and being rowdy, and there's really nothing you can do to stop them. It's not a safe feeling, really.
