EMERGANCY: Need alend of a Sandybridge-E CPU to Flkash X79 for Ivybridge-E

Hi guys, I just after running into a predicament on a build I am doing for a client, I bought this board to use with a 4930K:

    http://www.hardwareversand.de/Socket+2011/66047/Gigabyte+GA-X79-UP4%2C+Intel+X79%2C+XL-ATX%2C+PCI-Express.article

But thanks to my foolishness in the fact that this is my first Ivybridge-E build I forgot to check to see if the board support it without updating the bios.
So now I need a Sandybridge-E processor (doesn't matter which one) to flash the Bios to add support.
So if theres anyone in the Arkow/Wicklow area kind enough to lend me one to do so would be a huge help, as you all know the update would be quick so I wouldn't even need for long.
Have a deadline for Satureday so this would be a complete life saver.
    Cheers.

I really doubt you will get hold of one of these cpu's especially before saturday. You might be better off just buying a new bios chip from ebay and having it delivered.

wouldn't have the confidence to change the bios chip tbh,
if it has to be after satureday then fair enough be i would just like it done as soon as possible

BTW I would even settle with letting someone flash it for me if they don't trust me with there expensive CPU, can offer to pay something

If you can bring it up to dublin I am flashing one of my other boards to fit a 4930k in it and will be stripping down my main rig. This will be done on saturday morning so is the only time you would be able to do it.

If only I drove that would of been a huge help, but I really appreciate the fact that you offered, thanks.

It's not a SOP8 push pin bios on that board it's a SOIC8 bios thats soldiered in to position. So flashing is best option

quick question, would sandybridge-en and ep work?

I used a SystemRescue CD recently, which has a copy of flashrom on it, to flash a BIOS from Sandy to Ivy in an MSI board.

It was painless .... after I found it :D ....... might be worth checking if you motherboard is supported by the utility.

its not unfortunatly, with the ivb-e cpu in it it keeps turning on for a split second then shuts down and keeps repeating this process over and over again till i unplug the system

Ah yes of course ...... apologies ..... you do need a suitable CPU (for the existing BIOS) in there in the first place.

Maybe some old, used CPU, (or the cheapest compatible CPU) would allow it to boot ..... some boards will be backwards compatible to quite a range of CPUs.

thats why i am asking for someone who could lend me one or flash it for me.
buying isnt an option since a second hand sandybridge-e still for well over €200

Unless you just buy one, use it, sell it on again. Not really much else you can do, and you wouldn't loose too much overall.

I see ...... I had not realised the cost of 2nd hand CPUs of this type :(

    .... between a rock and a hard place ....

Wish I could, but for that I would need the money to invest to begin with =[

Do trains and buses not go through arklow anymore?

Deceit already offered to flash it if you make your way up, and considering he is flashing his own at the same time he may provide a PSU etc. so you would only have to bring the motherboard.

To be honest i think you would have to be very lucky to find some one locally on here that has one, or get somebody to travel to Arklow just so you can flash the bios in your board! You might be asking a bit much is all!

Best of luck with it though, hope you get it sorted some how.

Well that is a back up option for now but might not be possible since I will be working on Saturday plus I won't have the money to travel till Monday (payday)

I know I'm asking abit much but there's no harm in trying also I know a few chaps from Wicklow who occasionally post here so I was kind of hoping they'd see this thread too.
