Being Honest

I see the controversial mayor of Toronto (the largest city in Canada) has admitted to smoking crack cocaine whilst extremely inebriated.

    Article here:

Does anyone here think that his honesty is refreshing or do you think that people should tell porkies - especially in the world of politics - to save your own skin?

    Is honesty the best policy?

Going by the photos here, you most certainly did. Can you not just be honest for once?

I think he can be off his bin once it doesn't impinge on his capacity to cut a ribbon or unveil a plaque. If it starts to effect his work though then he's going to have to take a look at the situation.

I think people are better off being honest. If faced with the sort of question where the answer might cause trouble, refuse to answer (on principle, not just if you happen to have something to hide).

A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and honest people are screwed first.

    Yes and no
For example when I go to my local KFC to treat myself after a hard days work and if I receive chicken that frankly is not up to the high standards I usually expect I've no problem going up the manager being honest with him/her and telling them "this chicken is sh!t give me some fresh stuff please"
In the above example honesty is necessary to get what you want so its a good thing to be honest in that situation

However another example would be when I venture into the ghetto to purchase my daily fix of crack cocaine now I would expect to receive decent crack thats going to get me high however when I sample the product its terrible and not doing the job for me in this situation I'm not going to tell my local crack dealer that its sh!t because he could pull out his gun and blow my brains out for bad mouthing his product or he could stop supplying me with the crack cocaine I need everyday

In summary sometimes its good to be honest and sometimes its better to lie you just have to know what to do in these different situations

I'm not really up to speed on this subject but the news report on the radio said that when he was asked why he denied it for so long he said "You [the journalists] did not ask the right questions" !!! :)

It made me smile, the man has some neck.

Let this be a lesson to all those who confuse chicken and crack when it comes to customer service issues, and hey - who hasn't?

Did he only do it once? I doubt it, but if so, more power to him for not getting addicted.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

It seems that smoking crack comes with the job as city mayor - wasn't the Mayor of Washington DC caught on camera and busted by cops for smoking crack with a hooker?
