Leaving the country in January. Tax Refund?

    Hi
I re-entered the country in March of this year after a year working in Australia. I got a job with a financial institution in Dublin, starting in May. My contract expires in December and I am going back to Australia in January to be reunited with my partner. I am just wondering if I would be eligible for any tax back using the P50 system. I will not be claiming dole etc between finishing work and leaving the country which is only a 4 week space

    Thanks
    Encon

You will more than likely get a refund for any taxes you pay in January

Tiny tax refund probably for your unused credits from the 21st to the 31st

Sorry -- I'm assuming your Tax credits and cut-off point that were given to you and your employer are correct. In which case you would have used all the credits & band available to you for the period 1st Jan to 21st December.

If you think these are wrong request a balancing statement on line on paye anytime in the new year

More info needed. Is your tax cert on a week one basis?

You've spent over 183 days in Ireland this year and could therefore under residency rules be liable on your Worldwide Income. Have you earned other income for Jan to March from outside the State?
