Can you get VAt off from hardwareversand?

I've seen it posted a couple of times on the forum that you can but you have to place the order and then ring them. However they mightn't actually send you a new invoice and can end up messy

How does that work? You pay the VAT in Ireland instead of Germany? Is it a lower rate?

I ordered a few things without VAT before through a friends company, Sometimes the company would pay full amount and claim the VAT back or else the seller might just invoice without the VAT, would need a registered VAT number of course.

if your company has an EU vat number, certain sites will allow you to buy products at the VAT free price. That is as far as my tax knowledge goes though

Yes I can. VAT is slightly more in the UK though as you probably more, so you get a little more off there.

Anyone have any suggestions or does it look all good?

Well despite the vat differences I still think it would be cheaper overall from HWVS. This for example might cost a bit more but it's significantly higher spec.

Why are you getting both a wireless card and homeplugs? You will have to grab the keyboard and homeplugs on Amazon anyway. You could grab the monitor there as well if you want an English/Irish plug.

Cheers for that Bloodbath you're always on point. That is a significantly better build all right, I'll see if I can get together the extra few euro for it.

I'm getting both home-plugs and a wireless card as I tend to move around a lot so the home-plugs will be left at home for the rest of the family to use.

Is the 500w PSU sufficient even if overclocking both the CPU and GPU?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

    No bother.

500w would be plenty for that system overclocked. I'd say it would use around 350w-400w under load.

You could go for the non overclockable 4570 with a b85 board and drop the 212 evo if you wanted to save some money or go for a 270x instead of the 280x.

Grand. And do you think If I stuck with the 6300 instead of the i5 to save some money would there be a massive difference? I mean more than 5fps in most games? Especially since I will overclock the 6300. I'd rather drop the cpu than the gpu.

I updated the post. You could grab the 4570 and a b75 board and drop the 212 evo to save about €80-€85.

Ok cheers again. I'll weigh up my options and get back when I've decided.

Ok so I've decided to save some money instead of going for a 1000 euro build. The following is what I've picked out. And yeah I know the case is way overkill but I want it to be very upgradable and frankly I think it looks class so. :P

I'll be getting this monitor as well: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-I2369VM-inch-Monitor-50000000/dp/B00BDBWE0Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=WRDQ5BHLDLWC&coliid=IZ9AUCGOS7ZG8

    Seen good reviews on it.

I've also already run these components through that discount site. So with vat off + homeplugs/keyboard from amazon, the whole shebang comes out to about 735 euro. Look good?

Looks ok but just to let you know since you mentioned the total war games and arma 3 as two that you will be playing. Both of those games only use 2 cpu cores and can struggle a bit on the weaker core performance of the fx line.

I'd change the cpu to the 8320 since a lot of newer games and programs are making use of the extra threads. I'd upgrade the board to the gigabyte ud3 and I'd upgrade the psu to a 600w.

Either that or just grab a non overclockable 4570 + a cheap b85 board like the asrock pro4 and sue the stock cooler.

Ok sounds good to me boss. I see the 8320 can get as much as 25% more performance in multi-threading applications so I guess the extra 30/40 is worth it. Whats the advantage of the gigabyte motherboard over the one I chose just out of interest?

Also hows this for the PSU? : http://www.hardwareversand.de/500+-+600+Watts/69039/Corsair+Builder+Serie+CX600+V3+Non-Modular+80%2B+Bronze%2C+600+Watt.article?pcconfAddUri=/pcconfigurator.jsp%3FpcConfigurator.pwradaptor.pwradaptor.0%3D69039%3A3005&pcconfBackUri=/pcconfselect.jsp?search.sKey=&pcConfigurator.catid=44&pcConfigurator.maid=0&rp=1

The gigabyte board can deliver more power to the cpu. It has 10 power phases vs the 5 on the asrock pro3. With a power hungry cpu like the 8320 that's important if you want to get higher overclocks. You should be able to get it to at least 4.5ghz with the 212 evo.

    That psu is fine.

Ok cheers. Would 600w be enough to add a second gpu further down the line or would I have to go to 700w for that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

You would need a better board again if you wanted to go dual gpu. While those boards do support dual amd cards the second gpu lane will only run at x4 speeds with the first running at x8. Ideally you want a board that can do x8 in both lanes.

I'd go with at least a 750-800w psu for that as well then. A heavily overclocked 8320 can use near 200w of power on it's own. With higher end cards also using 200w+ each.

Fair enough so. Thanks for the help.

Is there a nvidia equivalent to the Radeon R9 270X? In terms of Price/Power ?

    Kinda sick of AMD.

660ti would be the nivida equivalent. But I'd hold out to see how mantle does, that might give AMD a big advantage in some games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭Komsomolitz

Hmm I dunno, seems every month I'm advised to hold out for something else every time I'm about to decide :P Whether it be price drops, new cards or some new technology like mantle!

I've always found things more stable using nvidia cards in the past. Also find them quieter!

    Thanks for the info!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

There are 0 stability issues with amd cards. The noise is completely relevant to the cooler on the card as well.

There are no Nvidia cards in the 270x price/performance range. There's the 660 gtx which performs worse and costs a little less and the 660ti which performs a little better and costs a little more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭Komsomolitz

Ah sorry, i meant to say driver issues when it comes to stability with AMD.

I always found the nvidia drivers more stable with current/new games. Rather than having to constantly download umpteen amd beta drivers to find the most stable.

Maybe i've just had a bad experience with one card i dunno.

I've been looking at the GTX 760 the past few hours, seems the most bang for buck nvidia wise. Could possibly get a second hand one for around the same price as a 270x. Or maybe just wait a bit til christmas for a possible price drop on the 7 series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Never had that issue to be honest. You can get 7970's for the price of a 760 gtx on some sites.

There's no competition between them especially when you overclock the 7970.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,621 ✭✭✭Jaafa

Something like this would allow for proper crossfire later yes? Along with providing enough power for overclocking the CPU.
