    hi

just wonering if anyone installed TF2 through the linux steam client?

mine is taking FOREVER to download (way longer than on windows) .
Broadband isnt that fastest. but normally 3HRS would download it on windows.
on ubuntu its 1 day or 10 hrs.... jebus! and unlike windows steam client, it doest appear to remember how much you downloaded. so if you had 20% downloaded, and needed to go. when you start it up again, its back to zero...

just wondering if anyone out there gave it a go on linux, did you come accross the same issues?
    cheers...

Have you tried changing your download location in Steam>Settings?
Perhaps the Linux client is pulling form somewhere far away.

That is probably it, they most likely don't have the Linux version pushed to all of the content servers. Might be worthwhile choosing a different EU / UK server to see if that speeds things up. It could be downloading from a US content server.

    hi all

in the end i got this back from steam support.

    **************
In order to refresh your Steam files please do the following:

    1. Open Terminal

    2. Type steam --reset

    3. You will see the following:

    Installing bootstrap /home/[username]/.steam/steam/bootstrap.tar.xz

    Reset complete!
    ******************
once that was ran, steam was re-downloaded, and now TF2 is downloading (slow, but not as bad as before)

it also now remembers how much of the game i previously downloaded. so i can take it in stages.... god job im not in any hurry.

changed download location to london, didnt make any real improvement.
    thanks for the suggestions.

doesn't sound promising for the rollout of Steambox
