    I'm seriously considering an A3 1.8 tdi, 2008-2009 period.

There are a few on carzone, aome feom garages, some private. Garages have ones with 78-80k on the clock for just under 11.5k euros.

I'm not a mechanic or car expert so I'm wondering should I be wary, considering prices for similar cars goes up to 13k euros?

Do you mean the 1.9 Tdi? Or the 1.8T?

If the former, the gf has one currently in 2 litre form, great cars and reliable, with anything though, always best to spend extra and have a trained mechanic look over the car before you part with your cash.

Bushings, clutch and injectors would be things to look out for, if an English import, be sure to check for rust underneath. With that mileage you're thinking about, make sure the water pump and timing belt are done already or get them done soon enough. The diesel lumps tend to be relatively trouble free if we'll maintained and not ragged.

In terms of the a3 themselves, they are a nice car to drive, boot space is plentiful and can fit two adults in the back without problems. We've put up at least 60k miles in the last 3 years in it and it's only been consumables that we've spent on it (tyres, brakes, bushings etc.)
