    Hi all,

Am in the process of getting quotes for replacement uPVC windows for my house. Lowest quote so far is from Acorn Windows. Has anyone here used them or even heard of them? Their website says they've been in business for over 20 years but I can't find a single review or even a passing comment about them anywhere on d'internet. Have also received quotes, in ascending order of cost, from Regency, Asgard and Senator.

Comments on any of the above suppliers would be much appreciated, on this thread or by PM. Cheers.

Did you go with them? Looking at getting windows myself. Any recommendations appreciated.

apparently you can't use specific names if giving bad feedback. so without being specific, i had a similar list and decided to go with the cheaper of the three... i am sorry i didn't spend the extra money. after sales are non-existent. have had nothing but trouble.

    Hi Folks,

I'm looking at upgrading double glazed windows in my house. I need 4 windows immediately:
    - 2 x curved bow windows for 2 bedrooms
    - 1 x flat window for another bedroom
    - 1 x 2 storey curved bow window on a curved staircase

I have got new upvc sections previously from Munster Joinery which were fine for regular shaped windows, but the sections get very big when installed in curved bow windows with steel poles between the sections. With an opening the upvc section x2 plus pole plus opening will be approximately ~22cm wide (~18cm without an opening) which is twice the width of the old existing aluminium sections.

I wish to maximise the amount of glass and minimise the amount of frame. Has anyone got any advice on what I should be looking for? &/or who I should try to deal with? to get windows with as narrow sections as possible.

I have asked a supplier for a quote for aluclad windows, using 'broken' poles between sections, which I am told may reduce the overall frame width. Is this so? What are peoples experience of Aluclad windows?

    Thanks for all advice
