garda reserve to full time garda

    I am 15 y.o. and am interested in becoming a garda in a few years. I'm wondering what is my best approach to get in. Should I go to and get a degree (e.g. police studies), try getting into the garda reserve before applying or just going in purely based on my l.c.

    Had a quick look around and couldn't see any answer to my question.

    My best advice is if you decide to go to college study something that 1) you are interested in doing and 2) make sure it is something you can get a job from besides AGS. It is best to keep your options open because there is no guarantee you would get into the Gardai.

    I also recommend when you turn 18 or when you feel you are ready to apply for the reserves. It will give you a good insight into the job. It is not a job like others out there and some people find it is not for them.
