    Hi,
Ive checked out citizens information and here, and cant find the answer I am looking for (which would probably come best from someone who has done jury duty).

How does jury duty work in terms of how long will I be needed for if I dont get picked? I have been called for a Monday, so if I dont get picked for service on the Monday do I still have to go back every day that week? If you dont get picked that day, what time do you finish at, is it that morning, and then I can go back to work?? Or do I just go in on the Monday and if I dont get picked Im done?

The letter they send out is pretty vague, and I just need to make arrangements in work for cover etc.

You will be required to attend every day for the length of the session (e.g. two weeks) unless otherwise informed.

The Courts Service generally update jurors via their facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/CourtsServiceofIreland

If not selected, you are excused(until the next day) - latest I was there was about 11am(was never selected).

There is no way to get selected, but I heard in order to be in with a chance you must be registered to vote, as this is the list they select from.

Can you only be called for Jury service if you are registered to vote in a county that would have a court that would have a jury?

Or is there a court in every county that would potentially have a jury - I don't think there is?

Go in wearing a nice suit, hair cut and glasses and the defence will object to you (unless the crime is a middle class one like bank fraud)
If it's a robbery drugs etc. jeans tattoos t shirt and the prosecution will object to you

Saying hello to all the guards in the court will help get an objection too

It looks like circuit court criminal trials are held in every county so potentially you could be called to sit on a jury.

However there is the issue of distance from the court and if we take an example for a specific town: Ballaghaderreen is in Co. Roscommon and is 50 kms from Roscommon town. The only circuit criminal trials held in Co. Roscommon are held in Roscommon town. If someone lives in Ballaghaderreen, can they be called to sit on a trial jury in Roscommon town or do they tend to only call people from the locality?
