What's the best value you have got from a game? In price divided by hours.

I'm excluding free to play games.

    For me it is:
Skyrim 150 hours for 50 euro.
Vampire Bloodlinnes 20 Euro for 100+ hours.

    Edit:
C&C Red Alert 40 Euro for 100+ hours.
    FF7 50 Euro 100+ hours.

Morrowind on the PC. Dumped hours and hours into it while in college.

I got Dawn of War free when I bought Company of Heroes. Put a few 100 hours
    into it.

That, a few Football Managers and Oblivion.

Pokemon yellow - Bought it off my cousin for £5 and must have over a thousand hours in it

For PS3 probably Oblivion or Fallout 3 both great value and hundreds of hours played

The original Rome total war . Countless hours of pondering play.

Oh and Age of Empires II, got it for a christmas present in 2002 and still play it regularly

Call of duty 4: I think it was atleast 30 days i put into the online alone

Metal Gear Solid 4: Bet the story 5 times and put atleast 500 hours into the
    online.

    Dark Souls : 100 hours

    Fallout 3: 80 hours

Persona 3 and 4: roughly 80 hours roughly on both games

    Skyrim: 60 hours

Picked Terraria up after watching a let's play of it paid €10 I think over two hundred hours played.Best value game for me as the devs released two major updates for free which really added to the longevity to the game

I'm still a good bit away from getting every item in the game :D.

Didn't really pay for the PS+ free version of Sleeping Dogs but it's great value for money.

I'd also back Dark Souls, lots of hours die-ing to the end.

The Orange Box, I must have put hundreds of hours into TF2 alone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭Tubbs4

Age of empires 1 and 2 for online joy.
Uncharted 2 for online play, loved plunder and last of us for the single player.
Most FF up till 13 and guilty of liking 12 and put over 100 hours into it.

    Forgot warzone 2100

For my punishment biggest waste was the return of matt hazard but that's for another thread.

Halo multiplayer, 100's of hours gotten out of that.

Other notable mentions, Company of Heroes, Battlefield 2, Unreal Tournament and Dawn of War.

A link to the past had served me to the tune of about 20 hours a year since I was 12 (in currently 30)

Rainbow six, black arrow 2? played it for years online. Xbox got to 123 out of 100.000 in the world before
all the gliching stats happened(ie. In the first few months) tbh I'd buy it now if it was in arcade store with beefed up graphics. Oh for
the days of free dl maps! :)

The binding of Isaac - 263 hours ( so far) for 5ish euro I think.

    -Orange Box
    -COD4
-Leauge of Legends (it's free !)

Quite a few games from Steam sales as well as Civ IV & V and a few Championship/Football Managers through the years.

Each no more than €30 and several hundred hours put into them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,061 ✭✭✭PickledLime

Most recently - The Last of Us with about 40 hours online and I'm 78% through my fifth playthrough.

Dark and Demon's Souls - paid €42 for both of them, and between them I've clocked 300+ hours.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown €15 from PSN, well over 100 hours.

HL/CS or HL2/CSS... many thousands of hours, guess about 30 quid ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,184 ✭✭✭marshbaboon

Dota 2. 1904 hours for nothing.

    I've had my fill though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭dor83

Burnout Revenge - played it online almost every day for over a year, loved that game.
Forza 2 - again, played the online in this for well over 100 hours, the best of the Forza games imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,932 ✭✭✭YouSavedMyLife

Binding of Isaac, Terraria, Diablo 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, World of Warcraft:TBC - WotLK in that order. Dropped hundreds of hours into each of them and all well worth the cash

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭Mint Aero

Tomb Raider 1 hands down. I've replayed it at least once a year every year for the past 15.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

    Battlefield 1942

The game; days upon days. The mods for the game; even more days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,449 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    DOTA 2. Free - 24 hours played.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

Very few games hold my attention after completion, recent times Borderlands 2 still playing after over 800 hours

Rockband games gave me value for money also, after those I have to look right back to the Diablo games and GTA 3 / VC which I played many times through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 wheelie_bin

MW2, played it for 500 hours. Still throw it on occasionally.

il 2 sturmovik i must have at least months not hours into this Sim.
Released in 2001 and continuously upgraded over the years.

    Other than that
    Dark Souls
    Battlefield 2
    Black OPS 1 and 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Borderlands 2. The clock is showing just over 6 days played (and that's probably a pittance compared to some of the grinders on this forum).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭D

    Freespace 2
X-wing vs tie fighter plus expansions.
    Fallout 2
    TF2
    the original dota.

and the worst would be: Eve online, wasted so much time on this, terrible, don't start it (runs off to re-subscribe)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,221 ✭✭✭✭m5ex9oqjawdg2i

World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2/3. My time played is somewhat scary.

Wow was 12.99 per month, but for the amount of hours I played the game this worked out fairly cheap :P

The Battlefield series works out so much better due to lack of subscription.

There have been quite a few that it is difficult to know which of the following were best value per hour played

    Civ 2,
    Guild wars,
    Elder scrolls Oblivion,
    Burnout paradise
    Fallout NV.

I put at over 100 hours into each of them. The exact time I don't know as I played Civ2 back in 1998 and I am still playing Fallout NV. I think if you had a series, it would definitely be the civilsation series though.

Counterstrike and Team Fortress 2 = bajillion hours.

Best value would have to be a game from back in the days when making copies and passing them around to friends was rife. I had lots of PC games which I got for free which I put loads of time into. Rome Total War springs to mind first.

Since I became honest (and DRM became impenetrable and ubiquitous) it would have to be Left for Dead 2. Got it for a tenner from Amazon about a year after its release and have around 300 hours on Steam. Still play it regularly.

Well, best value for time was Runescape.. ~15/ euro for 2300 hours (~96 days)
But that was purely addiction, and regret it so much.. Oblivion as well, currently on my 3rd copy as I broke 2, all for 30 euro including expansions..

Minecraft - €10 (I think) and hundreds and hundreds of hours played at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭Danger781

    Where to start..

Football manager series - The weeks of my life I have sunk into these games over the years.. Madness! I now can't let myself buy them for fear that I may fail college.

Counter Strike: Source - Many hours played in the local gaming cafe before it closed down.. All those LAN games were some of the best fun I've ever had on a PC game. Still play it now.

Left4Dead - Same as above, but at home on Skype to friends. Working as a team while screaming at my friends to save me from a smoker..

Age of Empires II - So many LAN nights in my buddies house. We'd all bring over our computers, a few alcoholic beverages, and play all night long.. Leave the next morning at 8am and get a hot chicken roll on the way home. Then sleep all day.

Eve is one of those games that takes too long to do things. You end up station spinning or waiting for fleets rather than playing.

Civilisation IV, Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3
Each one has had over 100 hours sunk into it...

    For a cheap deal, FTL

spent my childhood/early adult life (12-24) playing some form of half life 1 be it hl:dm / cs 1.6 / tfc / dod.

not a chance I'd have a stat on the hours, but some nights would have been easily 8-10 hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,454 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    For those I paid for?

Civilization 2, thousands of hours in that.
Oblivion, I think I topped a thousand on that.
    Shogun: Total War, similar times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

MW2 playing this weekend hacked and all as it is.
Got final kill in a 4-3 S&D game with the spas shotgun. Sitting at my desk now grinning thinking about it.

According to Steam stats I have
    Skyrim - 305 Hrs
    Fallout NV - 113 Hrs
    Terraria - 79 Hrs

Of those Terraria has to be the best value for money, seeing as I only paid €2.49 for it.
