I did this one last year and it was a bracing, but very enjoyable, day out. I hope the last few miles take a different route this year as the road back into Drogheda wasn't fit for road bikes.

This was a great event last year, despite the slightly inclement weather.
    Lovely route.
Looking forward to a return visit.

Suggestions taken on board chaps. The small narrow rd that runs along the river on the normal route back is out of commission at the moment anyway,so what we'll do is continue in from Collon, through the roundabouts. We will come down Mell in to Town, and return to finish via Rathmullan Rd and Marleys Lane.

Did this last year. Lovely spin, hope to do it again this year.

How much is it to do this one and do you have to be a club member?

Where exactly does this leave from?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,679 ✭✭✭bcmf

SInce its on a special boardsie's birthday I will probably do this as I missed it last year due to being up sick the whole night before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,923 ✭✭✭wav1

Where exactly does this leave from?
It starts at the old Opel/Saab garage in the retail pk Donore Rd,Drogheda.Be
    side KFC,Homebase etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 180 ✭✭Guybrush T

I may give it a go, it would probably be a good idea to put up a reminder around this time next year though, otherwise people might forget, a year's notice is kind of a long time.;)

Would the tour it be suitable for a novice who be used to doing 50km?

If its the same route as last year you'll be grand. Only real drag is coming from Ardee to Collon. 80k with a group will be as easy as 50k on your tod.

Update.Proceeds from the Louth Coastal Tour 2013 will go directly to the appeal for aid for those unfortunates in the Phillipines.Hope to see you for a sea air filled spin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,460 ✭✭✭lennymc

Just a reminder that this cycle is on this Sunday. Weather forecast looks great - sun, 25 degrees, no wind - unfortunately that forecast is for somewhere else. The actual Louth forecast for Sunday looks Ok, cloudy, 7 degrees, no rain and very little wind. What more could you ask for at the end of November! Should be a good spin on a really nice route. hope to see you there!

Typical - I'm working on Sunday. Did some of that route today though - mostly into the wind - but I'd liked to have been here to do it in a group. Enjoy

Nice spin and thanks to wav1 and DW for a great route.
Got the knock on the climb outta Ardee and went backwards.
Though Wav1 shoving a coffee at me in the security hut at the end helped.

Great spin and I've been at races with less marshalling !
The likes of Wav1 really are the glue that hold our sport together.
Well done again to him and the rest of the team for organising yet another great event.
Sambo's and tea after much appreciated :)

Enjoyed this spin, I believe 50 turned out on the day, fair play to all. Wav1 was a 1-man marshalling machine today....!
Plus I got home just in time to witness an almost historic rugby match.....!
