F*cking iTunes

Does anyone else think that iTunes is the most user unfriendly software application known to man?

I have never come across a bigger load of sh*te installed on a PC.

The iPhone will be going in the bin soon. It's not that the iPhone is bad as such, it's having to use iTunes to manage the media content that drives me nuts.

I despised using iTunes and iOS devices.

So much easier to just copy paste onto my phone or its memory card or upload it onto the phone through Kies Air.

Easier when you want to get pictures and all sorts of files out of a phone too.

I installed itunes few years ago and eh that's about as far as I got with it

It makes Windows 8 look like the best most user friendly system on the planet.

I think the iPod and iPhone are on the wane, Android systems will be the masters of the universe. Roll on...

Yet iPhone users will still claim android users are jealous when we tell them such, as if we couldn't have one if we wanted, iPhones are for idiots essentially :p

I can't understand the hate on iTunes, it is so easy to use and it is the reason I am an apple fan, it allows me to manage my music easily on my iPhone. I simply add the music to iTunes and it all gets stored under the one roof in the iTunes folder in "Music"

I have being using iTunes since 2006 and used it on XP, Windows Vista and Seven. I'm sure Android is probably good but its music element is so uncontrolled you never know where anything is and you have single songs displaying as albums etc that the whole thing is a mess.

I also use a software called Media Monkey for some stuff iTunes can't handle like reversing artist name and title etc.

iTunes is one of the simplest and easier systems to use I think.

How to get music on Android.

Step 1. Open Play Store App.
Step 2. Choose song you want and purchase.
    Step 3. ????
    Step 4. Listen to song.

    Alternative option.
Step 1. Open Play Store App.
Step 2. Select All Access pass for €6.99
    Step 3. Pick nose.
Step 4. Listen to unlimited music through your PC or Android device on WiFi or Data.

iTunes is nothing special. Google Play doesn't require a 3rd party app to work properly and sort your music.

I only use iTunes, amd it is really annoying at times.

Example. You want to reinstall all your music on your ipod after doing it you find the same songs on the ipod multiple times

I ****ing hate iTunes and its restrictiveness. I own no Apple products nor use any of their software.

I use MusicBee as my main music player (on Windows, VLC for video). Because I wouldn't touch an iPod/Phone with a 10 foot ****ty stick. I haven't tested it first hand, but I hear it works well with the Pod/Phone too.

First thing I did when I got my Mac was uninstall ITunes, such a sh1t piece of software imo, and I'm not even referring to the Windows version which is shocking...

Google music in the cloud on every device in the house is the way to go, music on your mac, android devices, phones and Chromecast....

I actually use vlc on Mac, its a bit ****, could do with a better internal media player than QuickTime though...

    ITunes sucks.

iTunes is a music fans worst enemy. It uses far too much memory than a music player should and if you have a large music library it can be a nightmare to manage it. Foobar2000 is the best music player I think. It's a nice lightweight program and doesn't hog too much memory. It's great for managing your music library and there's tons of plug-ins you can install including an iPod sync tool. Best of all you can tinker around endlessly with the user interface and have it to your liking, change scripts, or even download and install a pre-made skin.

WinAmp would be my next choice as it comes with plenty of features and a nice choice of skins. However there's a few user interface features that bug me. I could never get MediaMonkey to run properly on my laptop so I can't comment on it. As for Windows Media Player... just don't.

It has pulled me out of the shyt a few times, only because of windows media player's crapness, and this bullsht mess on windows 8.

Update...no...no update...stay the same and fck off microsoft. Change bad - my routine good.

Hey man, go to the hipster app store and give us your email and download a broken link - no fck off.

However searching for individual podcasts on itunes store site is drawn out due to very vague search function.

(no i dont have an apple - i dislike them and their abercrombie hipster bullsht)

Don't be ashamed, Winamp is still the king. Lightweight yet powerful.

......unlike iTunes. Yeah it's fairly usable and easy to understand, but the memory it takes is a joke, and despite all that usage it still manages to lag even on the best machines. Terrible program, and very bloated at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭SirLemonhead

I still use winamp too, with this http://maiko.elementfx.com and the modern classic skin (I think.. the silver one)

90% of my music is from CDs so I have those ripped into folders with individual playlists. Never needed any software to actually manage the music itself so winamp is grand (though i've never used it to manage music so it might be fine for that too)

    also, Global hotkeys FTW!

I don't hate itunes, but it does develop a mind of its own at times and refuses to do anything, including closing down. I just re-start programme 3-4 times and the play store is okay again then :) Takes time some days to work right, but don't use it too much to hate it or find it the most user unfriendly software application known to man.
/Should state I have an android, so don't need access as much as someone with an iphone would.

I really dislike iTunes, it is bloated crapware, I hate using it and only do when I really have to. It feels like every time I open the bloody thing up it there's a new update, I think they should just scrap it and start again.

Did it not occur to you I used iTunes for a period of time and then decided it was a system hogging, bloated piece of crap that has so many unnecessary features it's comical more than anything? Or that I may have once used an iPod and came to the same conclusion about the hardware?

    Logic rules

I'm so glad I found this thread! I use that infamous program, along with other stuff like Photoshop, page layout, drawing and video editing programs. Up to now I have not had any problems, neither with my hardware nor my software! I'm so glad to hear that iTunes is shíte and iPhones are rubbish.

Many thanks for the help. I can now continue my little life, enhanced with that extra wisdom.

I've been using Spotify a lot lately, which has an inbuilt local files folder. It's not the best, but it works.

Something about iTunes that utterly confuses me is why when you add a song to their program, it essentially just makes a copy of it and places it in its own media folder. I already have the song on my harddrive, why do I need a copy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭gracehopper

The ipod and iPhone have revolutionised media and how people access content but their technologies are now behind some but not all of the droid devices.

I have never used iTunes. Agree it is a shocking application. I use Winamp and VLC for players but also use iTools to drag and drop music onto my phone and iPod. It's not an apple application, it's a nice handy executable which works well every time.

Why does having QuickTime installed make Apple think they should send me pop-ups telling me to download iTunes?

I can't see peoples problem with iTunes, I find it great and it's all torrented stuff I use it for too not things I get through the iTunes Store.

All my music is in one place, nice and organised. I plug in my iPhone or iPad and iTunes automatically syncs any new stuff onto my devices and backs up all the content on my iPhone or iPad everytime I connect. It's effortless and works very well.

I can download Google Play on to my laptop, have it sync up to my iTunes account (or wherever my library is), then download the same app on to my Android phone. If I have some internet access on my phone, I can stream the music that is on my library, without having to place them on my phone.
