    Hi all,

Anyone else having latency issues with Digiweb?

Been happening this last week or so, gets worse in the evenings, im think its contention on the Fibre cabinet.

I have been in contact with Digiweb tech support and they "reset" my line but it had no effect on ping...

    This makes gaming almost unplayable.

Speed tests having been great either

    Hi,

I am seeing the same on DSL, dreadful performance in the evenings.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=87143085

A friend of mine on the same exchange gets the same results.

He called them and they put it down to congestion while stating that the service was uncontended, they went on to say that there was contention but did not know the contention ratio and offered no additonal support.

I filled in an online ticket and got a reply on the 23/10/13 saying it was being escalated (auto response) and have heard no more.

My broadband has been trouble free for many years with Smart, when Digiweb offically took over it has been hit and miss.

    Very disappointed :(

I was with smart also before switching to the fibre, smart was always solid for pings 14ms to boards, its not 26 on a good day with fibre, the line seems to have stabilised in the last few days, digiwebs customer server told me they couldnt guarantee ping times, which i find strange as many services require a certain qos to work properly. Im putting it down to a router on their network being hammered in the evenings, it's not as bad as it was but it's still inconsistent. They did however increase my line from 50/15 to 60/20 altho I have seen anywhere need those speeds on the download.

Its a strange one alright, It sounds as if the rush to get superfast speeds to the local cabinets is causing issues with the backhaul.

All I know is that for me it seems to coincide with the "rebranding" of Smart to Digiweb.

Incidentally they called my mate today to ask if he wanted to upgrade to fibre, he informed them that the local cabinet is not commissioned yet, they went off to check and confimred it wasn't

The quality and service appears to have cheapened up since the rebrand me thinks...............................

Yep, same here, sundays evenings have been appaling for the last few weeks, I am glad somebody else sees this and that I am not going mad.

Strange that the poor performance is common to DSL and Fibre.

They clearly dont have the backhaul at peak times leading to routers being overloaded and poor performance. :(

Hi, I am not on fibre yet but same story here after Digiweb took over from smart pings went sky high, speeds looks to stay the same, but having 1-3 disconnects daily, they change my router but no luck with that still getting DS daily :)... I am from Dundalk.

Absolutely abysmal service this last 2 evenings again from 7pm onwards.

    3101459867.png

Digiweb tech support said yesterday engineers have identified the problem but could take a week to fix. I'll not hold my breath, its clearly contention and not enough backhaul.

    ping to boards.

I'm the same in Drogheda. 220kbps download last 2 nights and ping over 400ms. I moved to fibre from the Metro Broadband service where I had exactly the same problem. Digiweb have also said the problem will be fixed by next Friday.

Problem is, I had the Metro installed in April and each month since they admitted their problems are due to congestion and it will be solved the following month. It never was.

If it's not fixed by next week they can remove it, it's not fit for purpose.

Poor quality service as usual this evening.

    3109985065.png

This is from a server they host!

I get the impression that there focus is elsewhere other than residential customers, my neighbour called them about the same issue and they could not have been anymore indifferent.

Ask them about contention ratios and they fail to answer that one, wonder why?

    hi,all pings 400ms they said to be fix I a 5 days from to day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ii wait,wait!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 Karl88

my ping seems to be getting worse!? but yeah they told me it will be fixed by friday...it's obvious its contention, if it wasnt i wouldnt get 63mps download in the morning!?

They arent providing the service we're already paying over the odds for as it stands compared to vodafone, 18 month contract aswell which im sure they'll drag any cancealltion out as long as possible. If only smart wasnt rock solid id of scene out thst contract and went with eircom/vodafone....

This is what I've been getting http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3110896134

I had Digiweb fibre installed a couple of weeks ago. Downloading torrents was better before with my 10MB DSL Smart Telecom service. I usually got a consistent 1MB download with large torrent files.

Now it goes over 1MB and then after a few seconds drops down to zero. It repeats that until the file is downloaded. It looks like the connection is being killed. Anybody else experiencing that?

Vast improvement tonight, maybe they have rectified the issue, fingers crossed!

Even for us peasants on DSL things look better, maybe it is sorted, this is what I was used to with Smart!

Thats the lowest ping I have had for a long time.

Slower than 58% of IE indeed, 100% better than yesterday................. was even able to look at youtube without buffering every 15 secs.

That seems very decent for a 12MB line. What issues did you have?

    Ah ok, you have PM.

They confirmed the issue was resolved at the end of last week there yesterday, received a credit note for a free month due to the problems, Id advise everyone else to do the same.

It's back to being solid again no problems since last week.

Is that the first test you have run, or have you run other tests with different results?

That was one of the first tests. I've ran several since, they're all roughly the same.

I've just run this one now and its probably the best I've had so far:

Got fibre installed today but I'm still getting old connection speeds. I rang them and they said they can't do anything for 24 - 48 hours, seem like I'm still capped to 7 meg. What's up with that?

Eircom came around this morning and fixed my line now I'm getting this
