    $550 typically translates to about €700. Over a grand once you actually attach a bike to it. So no cheaper than any other e-bike but slower and less range.

    Although they're more popular now, cost is still the major factor in their unpopularity.
    At €1000, cycling enthusiasts see it as an expensive commuter bike and the motor adds nothing except laziness.
    The non-cyclist sees €1k as a massive outlay "for a bicycle" and considers that money would be better spent on a motorbike.

    E-bikes really need to fall into the €300-€600 bracket if they're ever going to be noticed as a good commuting alternative.
