Buy mine from AliExpress for a fraction of the prices here. Bought two kits so far and am happy with the quality, no complaints from me.

Sorry if this is a bit of a hijack but ....
Anyone know a bricks and mortar shop with a castelli gabba ?
That's where I'll buy next jersey.

Ask them in Base2Race in Ballymount. They do lots of Castelli gear.

Me too, got 2 sets of bib shorts and ss jerseys plus long bibs and jersey set, very good quality for the price and surprisingly an excellent chamois pad in the shorts and pants.

    I was recommended http://www.lightinthebox.com/c/cycling-clothing_5289

How much for postage to Ireland? Any problems with customs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,286 ✭✭✭AmberGold

Prendas.co.uk or the Assos Outlet Store.

I've bought 4 jerseys, 2 pairs of bib shorts and one set of fleece tights (bib) and jersey from Monton. Can't fault them, very good quality for the price and have never had a problem with items not arriving or anything else.

Free postage, never had a customs charge with clothing from Aliexpress. Shipping can take a while though, thats the only downside.

Samesies! €35 for a kit! Can't beat it!

Pro jerseys/vintage: eBay, no issues yet after 3 orders from UK and Italy.
Non-branded kit: TK maxx if you're lucky enough to find your size.

The 4 bibs I've had from aliexpress have had really good pads, better than my dhb ones.

Am I right in thinking it's another form of eBay?

It's basically a far east trading site, a lot of the merchants sell the exact same products so look for merchant rating and customer reviews.

Sizing seems pretty standard comfort fit rather than race fit .

When you say monton, is that the name of the website? I tried searching google but there seems to be several different monton cycling websites.

Could you give me a link to the website you used?

Thinking of taking the plunge then and ordering the Sky kit today then, even if the quality is only on par with Aldi or Lidl, armwarmers, legwarmers, hat, bib shorts and ss top for 50e, its smashing value.

Jesus, so tempting. 20 pounds for full movistar kit including postage.

But it HAS to be bad, right..?

The jerseys can't be too bad I guess, whatever about the bibs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,083 ✭✭✭furiousox

I've always found the jerseys to be excellent.
The padding in the shorts can be of varying quality, some are ok some are unwearable.

I think I'll just have to take a punt on a jerseys, never know til I try them I guess. Don't think I'll bother trying the shorts.

I had a HTC kit, the jersey wasn't great, it was fairly heavy and the stitching wasn't the best, comparable to the Lidl and Aldi stuff, maybe a little bit better.

Shorts were brutal, chamois was paper thin.

I have had 2 seasons summer wear out a few chinese shorts and one pair for 3 seasons. Pads are very good and I was thinking they work better than some of the named stuff I have owned. I have thought that the jerseys do not feel like the quality of the named gear and imagined they do not have the anti bacterial properties but have never experienced any kind of difficulty - no odors, itchiness or any form of unpleasantness. They wash well and the stitching holds. I had one zip go but was able to sew the bottom of it together and it looks fine now. If you do order check the sizing charts carefully - they are accurate. Before anyone asks me to post a link ( mine were Ebay), I believe they change them regularly for obvious reasons but as another poster pointed out there are several sellers selling same kit. at the end of the day you are not risking silly money and if you don't get on with the bib then use an old pair of shorts under them
