    Yes it is!

Krista Duchene ran 3:28 in 2002 aged 25, kept plugging away whilst having 3 kids, gradually whittling her time down. She ran 2:28 in Toronto last week aged 36, although she will have to run a qualifying time again when the Rio2016 window opens. Not without her setbacks, running 2:32:05 in Rotterdam in 2012 but this was outside Canada’s Olympic qualifying time (2:29:55) and so missing out on London. Qualified for Moscow World Champs but early DNF after collapse/vomiting.

A good example of how working away at it, set no limits and it might come.

If interested rack her progress here (will only have races within Canada) http://www.sportstats.ca/searchResults.xhtml?month=0&lastname=duchene&year=&firstname=krista&city=

or see her blog here http://kristaduchenerunning.blogspot.ca/
