Strange noise after timing belt replacement in TDI

Got the timing belt replaced two weeks ago and yesterday evening a strange noise could be heard. It was like a counter starting, then ticking over. It starts rapidly when I start the car and then goes into a series of 'ticks'.
Really hope the timing belt is in correctly! Does it sound like that type of an issue?

Was it done by a dealer or an indie?

Does the frequency of the ticking change with engine speed?

Any other work done at the same time?

    Indie. A 'friend' of mine.

It goes for about 60 ticks or grinds and then kind of reloads or something. Only in the car now.

Nothing to the engine was done on the last visit, just a regular service.

May or may not be related to the timing belt but bring it back to him to look at it.
