Selling a car for parts. help!! :(

    Hi,

So I've got a 06 peugeot 307 hdi that's been giving me some serious problems. Took it to the garage yday, and they've come back to say the PDF filter is blocked, and the injector on one cylinder is blowing out pressure. To top it off, the steering rack needs to be replaced. Would cost around 3 grand to fix, so not worth it.

Would anyone have any idea what I would get for it if I was to sell it to someone for parts. I don't necessarily want to sell it for parts myself. I wouldn't really have the space for it once I get a new car.

Any advise on what i should do would be greatly appreciated. :)

To anyone thinking about buying a car, don't buy a peugeot!!

i'd get a second opinion. reckon you could do the work for half that, less maybe. you could get a second hand rack, can't see a re-con'd injector costing more than a couple of hundred and get the dpf removed?*

    *i could be wrong.

DFP can be removed and deleted from the car's ECU for less than €500 these days.

Thanks for the advise. Worth considering if I could get it done for 1500, but if I'm honest, I just want rid of the car I'd say. :(

i would definitely get a second opinion before i do anything hasty.

can i take a guess and say your car is with a peugeot main dealer at the minute?

no, its with a local garage, but the fella running it said he wouldn't be able to fix it, and so rang peugeot for the quote.

Might look around for an engine specialist to see what sort of quote they could give me.

You can get steering racks reconditioned also, but it's a bit of a pig of a job
