    Hey,

    I kickstarted an Ouya ($99 + $20 shipping)

I paid Import duty on when I received it, €20.

The Ouya has now developed a fault and will need to be RMA'd. Will I have to pay import duty again?

Technically you should not have to pay import duty again, but dont be surprised if the delivery guy has his hand out at the door.

The problem is that they should note repair on the delivery slip with a value of 0.00 but to have the item insured it must have a true value. Unfortunately its this value that the revenue use to calculate the import duty.

If you have the receipts for the original import duty and receipt for postage/tracking back to be reparied, keep them both.

If the delivery guy has the hand out at the door looking for import duty, try not argue with him, he cant do much, just ask if there is an option to be billed for the duty, if not, pay him and insist on a reciept.

Write a letter to the company that accepted the duty payment outlining it was a repair, include emails from supplier and receipts to prove and give strength to your case.

    Best of luck.
