Is there a 3rd party independent site comparing brokerage companies in Ireland? i.e trade fees, commission rates, min balance, monthly fees, what exchanges you can trade in, etc...?

I want to setup a new investment account to do some personal trading and seems like the options are

    Davy
    Goodbody
    TD

Any more I need to look at?

Looking for best option with no more that 20 trades a year and need to able to trade in USA markets (as well as Irish).

    Thanks!

I would recommend Campbell O'Connor & Co in Cope St, Dublin (behind Central Bank). Great service and competitive rates.

1.5% commission for trades up to 10,000 seem expensive to me.

TD are looking like the best option to me at moment. Anyone here using them?

they are indeed incredibly cheap but be prepared for bizzare account details from time to time and on a permanent basis when it comes to uk listed stocks which are denominated in sterling

im leaving them and going to keytrade in Belgium

    Please explain?

Cheaper rates than some of the bigger guys, and a good co for the 'man in the street' to buy shares. Friendly, efficient and nice to deal with.

Sure there are plenty of alternative mediocre cheaper service providers.

Well if 1.5% commission on 10,000 trades is expensive, I would suggest you do something else! € 150 FFS :o

they don't have an online execution service which makes them automatically more expensive and like the other irish brokers , take a percentage of your spend

their is nothing whatsoever cheap about them

I could spend two hundred grand on a share with TD investing or keytrade and im out no more than twenty euro in total if I buy on the new York exchange

stamp duty on any European exchange but the brokers don't collect that

what are you getting for your €150 on a €10k trade here that is different from a €20 / trade with TD?

Would have thought it would be obvious, but seeing as you've asked, I would rather support and deal with a local specialist co and enjoy the obvious benefits of fostering a client relationship with a real broker.

thanks for recommendation but that's not what I am looking for at moment.

I just need online occasional trading of stocks in Irish and USA markets and will be doing all research and analysis myself.

Sonnenblumen - most people trade with the intention of making a return, not making new friends.

**In my opinion**:Automatically throwing up to 2% away in fees to stockbrokers and advisors is not a great way to begin.

    so back to my question

For online, inexpensive stock trading on Irish and USA markets for someone resident and paying taxes in Ireland are my only options in Ireland

    Davy
    Goodbody
    TD

no problem. If you are tax resident in Ireland and are looking for an online broker you can use any that will accept your application. All you have to do is fill in a tax return at the end of the year.
