I'm very much looking forward to the chasing debut of 2.35 Punchestown Way Up In The Air 6/1. An absolutely massive mare standing 17'2, I feel the old adage of whatever she did over hurdles is a bonus definitely applies here and I think she could prove to be a very, very good chaser. A very strong travelling sort and a lovely jumper, Way Up In The Air showed some good form over the smaller obstacles but I think Robert Tyner's 6 year old has a big future in front of her now going chasing. In a decent looking Beginners Chase, Way Up In The Air has a first time hood applied and I'm confident of a massive showing today which can hopefully see her score at the first time of asking on what will hopefully be a very successful chasing career.

Our Vinnie looks very overpriced @ 5/1 in the 3:10
looks to need a less cut in the ground judging by his distance 3rd to ponte alexander in soft to heavy at Leopardstown in January (yielding to soft today), and looked to be going very well before being brought down at Cheltenham . The fav morning assembly looks to need a bog which he doesnt get today, and bar possibly corbally ghost the rest look well enough exposed over hurdles that they are unlikely to show enough improvement taking to fences to win a competitive race like this.

I'm ****ing furious. Not only did Enright push the button too late, he only used the whip once in the run in. Would have gotten up in another stride the way he rode her but surely she definitely would have gotten up had he used the whip another once or twice. Jump at the last didn't help but unquestionably the best horse in the race. The interference didn't help at all but Enright had ample time after that.

She's a lovely, lovely chaser though.

That was a great shout rossom, terrible ride, but looks a lovely mare for fences.

He definitely isn't a chaser going on that run anyway. Didn't look comfortable for a second in the race.

Nice performance from the winner, won a competitive race nicely.

To be fair to Our Vinnie, 2m4f too short for him and would have found things happening a lot quicker than he will when upped in trip and that probably was against him from a jumping perspective. Couldn't have been more friendless in the market which says a lot hailing from the Charles Byrnes yard.

Could be interesting sent the 4 miler route at Cheltenham.

True, I just never saw where the hype came from with him as regards to being a top class animal. I think he's decent but definitely not grade 1 quality.

Champagne Agent, must have been placed in maiden hurdles about 10 times for Mullins, going over fences for Lucinda Russell. 6/1 out to 16/1. :o

If anyone thinks Our Vinnie was off today with Rob Jones riding it give up the game.

And who else would have rode it?

Are you serious??. Horses first run over the bigger obsticles , ridden without being put into the race , not a shilling for it in the betting . You make a judgment on a run like this??. Obviously the object of the exercise was to get around safely and not to be hard on it. Wait until Russell is up and see what happens.

BTW . Byrnes stated yesterday "The horse will come on a lot from this race"

He'll be a decent horse, but a little bit special? Don't see it myself , obviously was a bit harsh to judge him today.

Also I doubt you will see Davy Russell on him too often!

Switched the racing channel off after watching the first 2 races at Punchestown, Irish racing is horrendous 2 of the first odds on favourites absolutely battered. A graveyard it is for punters I would never back anything over here outside of grade 1.

If favourites are constantly losing why not use this ingenious insight and lay them on betfair?

    Pocket talking by any chance?

He is the master of assessing horses based soley on one run over fences, dont even get him started about Don Cossack.

"Give up the game", "the machine" and "dough" are the current favourites closely followed by "<insert horses name> will win the champion hurdle"

No I wouldn't back anything in Ireland unless it was a Grade 1. I am just saying some of the results this side of the pond is baffling, sure the first odds on favourite was turned over by a horse who was beaten out of sight in his last race 2 years ago

The winner of the first cost €325,000 and was backed from 16s into 12s. The favourite was almost wiped out at the first hurdle and his opening show of 4/7 was ridiculous anyway. Bookmakers will take no chances with Mullins/Wylie newcomers and he did drift out to something more like a realistic price before the off.

A shining example of all that is wrong with the modern jockey. Could have won, should have won, but sadly for all of us who backed it didn't win. At least 5 examples every day. If i owned it he'd never sit on it again.

Tbh I doubt the owners are that much bothered about wining a beginners chase in October of her novice career when clearly she is above average. The jockey was probably under strict instructions to give her a handy race and it's testiment to the horse that she almost managed to win.

This nonsense talk about our Vinnie is laughable. The horse doesn't run fresh, over a distance which doesn't suit running against decent enough animals. It was obvious from all the signs not to mention the jockey booking, 1st run over fences and the betting he wasn't in it to win it.
Morning assembly is a nice enough horse, probably shouldn't have won the race in April but maybe he'll prove us wrong
