    Hi Astra93
I have had dystonia for some years and have tried many different drugs and treatments. If the botox did not work, the next line of attack would be EMG-guided botox treatment. EMG = Electromyography. I do not believe this is available in Ireland. I was referred to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosugery in London, UK. Unfortunatey this did not help either. Problem with dystonia is that it can spread to other parts of the body without warning. There are some good neurologists in Galway with experience of movement disorders - not all neurologists are the same - some have virtually no experience of dystonia and specialise in just, say, epilepsy. Drugs such as Baclofen (Lioresal), clonazepam, tetrabenazine (Nitoman), procyclidine (Kemadrin), biperiden (Akineton), and Sinemet can be helpful. Sinemet is only helpful if you have so-called DRD (dopa-responsive dystonia). The other problem is that some of these medications can eventually make the condition worse - the brain does a u-turn and changes it's response. Please note I'm not a doctor, I'm just stating my experience. There is a great facebook group called Neuronauts if you need information. Good luck and I hope you get help soon.
