Can anyone tell me if it is possible to be out of the country and receiving benefit for a couple of weeks, My partners father is terminally ill and she needs to go over to the UK.. I know you can go if you are looking for work provided you sign on over there but is there not a mechanism for a "holiday" period.. she has had 7 of the 14 days permitted this year and cant really give the 10 days notice.

Just to follow up... Called into the office and there are no compassionate grounds procedure, miss a signing and you have to start a new claim. If you have holidays left then you can take them but without the 10 day notification there could be problems with payments and non collection if payments have been issued would flag as a non signing.. To be fair the lass down at the office did make notes on the computer that a short notice holiday submission form (normal form that had notes written on it) had been issued.
