Has anyone here with chronic fatigue ever been prescribed Ritalin?

Don't have CFS, but have Fibromyalgia which isn't that far removed. Never heard of Ritalin being prescribed for either. I would imagine it would make symptoms worse if anything. Best to discuss with your doctor/specialist.

Yes, CFC and Fibro ore or less come under the one umbrella...

My Dr. prescribed it for me when I asked her as I need to function so I can work-can't afford not to work anymore. It doesn't give me tons of energy but it gives me a bit of my mojo back so I can get out of the bed and do stuff. I don't take it everyday just on days when am really bad. (Which is most days so difficult not to take everyday).

Was with Neuro today and he didn't have a problem with me taking it and said he'll recommend some other drug to my GP that can also help with CFC.

Tropheus, what makes you think it would make things worse?

Just speaking from the Fibro perspective, I can't see it helping. With Fibro, you tend to be wound up which leads to feeling of anxiety and tight muscles. I couldn't see Ritalin helping in that situation.

Glad to hear it works for you. These illnesses effect us all in different ways and what works for some, doesn't work for others.

I find Lyrica useful for Fibro. However, a side effect is weight gain which I'm struggling with.

That's a bummer about the weight gain-all of these drugs have side effects but sometimes there's no choice if you've to get on with life. A friend of mine suffers with Fibro and she gets awful pain with it at times.
I have a multitude of symptoms but thank God at least pain isn't one of them. I suffer a lot with brain fog and the ritalin seems to help with that.
Seems to be an awful lot of these type of illnesses but no actual cure.
