I have a leak which I discovered when towels etc in the hotpress were sopping and the ceiling up to the attic has a big damp patch.
I have traced the problem to a connection on the expansion pipe which is badly leaking. (I had a guy doing insulation last week and i reckon he disturbed it as the pipe is at an angle after the connector...)
How can I quickly stop this leak!
I have no plumbing skills and dont want to make the situation worse
I have towels around the joint which I need to replace every 2 hours or so

Any practical temporary fix suggestions greatly appreciated!

Turn your water off at the mains?

Tie up the ball cock in the attic tank?

I will turn off at the mains now
Is there a quick fix like tape or gel or something that will temporarily stem the flow until I get it fixed properly?

If there is a compression fitting, large brass nut, give it a small tighten to reset the olive behind it,

    Hi
Tried to tighten the nut (it moved a small bit but it seemed to make it worse so I stopped. Still leaking!

If you tightened the fitting (350) without holding against moving the rest of the fitting then its likely you have now loosened the locking nut that tightens on the tank itself, if you dont know what your doing you need to get someone who does.
