Will a 1987 car, which was imported to Ireland in 2007, be eligible for classic tax €56 in 2017? Or is it 30years from when it was first registered in Ireland?

Thirty years from date of first registration which is on the reg cert which would have been on the previous country's reg cert also.

As da_hambo said, 30 years from date of first registration, which is right. NOT from new.

If it was first registered in 1987, then yes. It depends what country you are bringing it from. In some countries the manufacturing date is the one that matters, not the registration date, so check this first.

Just a quick hijack here - does anyone know if you need your drivers licence when you are at the motor tax office to change a car to vintage?

Today I only have my logbook and my (recently expired) passport and don't want to queue if I can't close the deal!!
