    Great price.

I'd go for something with at least 16 or 32gb meself but for a child is good considering the official future support and cyanogenmod mods for it.

What phone number did you use?

It's got a micro sd slot so you can add what memory you want to it. Good find op!

According to a lot of comments the SD storage is only usable for media, and apps can't use it. Odd.

I cant process the order as it is looking for a UK phone number :(

The Nook HD is still €109 from Littlewoods Ireland for those interested. It has a much better screen.

    Here's a fuller comparison:

Does the nook come with the proper full play store? Two nice small tablets though, for the basics.

You can also get 10% back on electricals (which tablets fall under) through Quidco. http://www.quidco.com/asda-direct/

No so any more. On the latest official Samsung update apps can now be moved to sd card.

Conversely the Nook has no built-in camera, no ambient light sensor, no Micro-USB, and no HDMI port.

The Tab 2 is a fantastic little tablet imho. Battery life in real world usage I find is very good, which isn't something you usually get in this price range.

The Tab 2 should also get an official Android 4.3 update too as far as I know.

Does the Samsung Tab 2 have a HDMI port? Can't find it listed on the specs.

Thanks. You mentioned HDMI port so I thought that the Tab 2 might have one.

You could always sign up for a free UK personal number that auto-forwards to an Irish landline:

Thanks just picked one up as an Christmas present, also picked up the new Pokemon game for £32 that's about another €10 saving on the Christmas shopping list.

Had NI phone number to use.

I was looking at the Nook hd+ recently, the 9" version. Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bidiots

I had one. Nice kit for the money. problems with the b and n software but you can download an updated version of android via an sd card.
The only issue I have with these cheaper versions of tabs is that the Nexus7 is not too expensive in comparison, and the nexus is a much better tablet in all areas.

A lad in my job got one, says it's great. You can get refurbs from the US on ebay for about €130 incl import charges.

Check the other thread for the Amazon UK deal.

Just received mine. Seal on the box was broken and its obviously a recon job. Not happy at all with this, I'm going looking for a reasonable discount or total refund including shipping return costs, this sort of crap retailing gets under my skin!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 502 ✭✭✭sarah88

No way! What a shambles! Let us know how you get on with customer service as we could all be in the same boat! Anyone else received theirs yet?

Yeah, got mine as well this morning. Seals were good and the item as described.
Now it's time to get a 32GB SD card. Anyone know of a good deal?

I just sold my Nook HD+ (replaced with Nexus 7 - I wanted a smaller tablet) and have the 32GB Sandisk Ultra microSD that I was using in it (Nexus 7 doesn't have expandable storage). PM me if interested

@bidiots did you have any luck with asda customer service? I contacted them this morning and they will offer a refund but they have no replacements in stock. Argos Uk are also sold out, so my options are to stick with a possible refurb or have no tablet....the feckers anyway.
