    Crossmaglen is Crois Mhic Lionnáin, meaning Lennon's Cross or Mac Lionnáin's cross. Apparently there used to be a fella there sold the best poitin in the country. his legacy does not continue today, i dont reccommend drinkin the vodka in Cross

    there's a good one from a neighbouring area of mine, Ardboe, 'Height of the cow' it comes from a myth that when they were building the monastery lough neagh dried up and so they had no water to mix the mortar, the locals prayed for rain, a cow then appeared out of the lough and provided them with milk to mix the mortar

    Nobber is An Obair, The Work. There are a lot of "An" places around the East. Naul is An Aul, Navan is An Uaimh, the cave, even Naas is An ais or something.
