So apart from the usual Apps that everyone appears to use, has anyone come across any useful or interesting ones worth sharing?

    For android:
    Dropbox
    Splashtop streamer
    Winamp
    Airdroid

Also; Amazon app store for android where you get a free app a day for free; usually rubbish but sometimes there are gems for free

Trusty Norwegians and their detailed weather app!

90% of apps are bullsht designed for tweens.

Mostly variations on similar games, or a calorie counter. Or some bs that lets you write on you lolcat picture.

The real useful ones are hard to find.
I had 'memories' - a diary app, which Ive given up using as my life is too boring for even myself to read.

I think theres one or two good personal accounting ones, I may have downloaded them and never used them.

Think I had a foreign language diary one too.

I go for offline apps mainly. Apps are overhyped shyte in my humble opinion.

Oh yeah, theres a CB radio app I got where people curse and rant at each other, it works for 1 or 2 lols but grows old quick and you need a connection.

The star gazers one is kind of cool if you're an astronomy geek.

Also the one that has 101 videos of different sexual positions.

There's another one where you can take a photo of your genitals and it will tell you if you have herpes.

I have a pretty good one on my ipad that helps me when raining death down on my foes from afar.

Couple of womanly apps that are quite useful. Calorie counters, GPS running trackers (the zombie running one is fantastic). I like the google one that translates a picture for you!

    Paper by 53.

The most awesome of awesome app for anyone who likes to doodle.

    The end.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

IS it better than Transport for Ireland? Checking once to go from Dalkey to city centre (I wanted to know the last Dart), it told me to take an aircoach to the airport and then the back to O'Connell St.

    EDIT:
I just read the small print ;)

    I love SMS Scheduler.

My bird starts work very early 2 mornings a week. She's usually getting up at around 5am those mornings. So the night before, I set up the phone to send her a lovely little good morning txt at about half 5. She loves the fact I wake up just to txt her :D

Sky Fire - a snazzy $5 browser that lets you see Flash videos on iPads.

*very* handy for streaming sites, it enabled me to watch the Breaking Bad finale live and in good quality so it paid for itself in my first night using it. Recommend.

I have uninstalled most I have installed because they are all rubbish.

The only three that I have kept so far are:

    1) Google Goggles. Good for translating text in pictures, doing sukoku for you if you take a photo of it, looking up products instantly, reading barcodes, identifying art work, and much more.

    2) Ingress. Augmented reality game from a Google subsidiary. Could be better but it is still in Beta and improvements coming all the time. Come on the green team!

    3) Clever Tanken. The app that shows me all the current Diesel prices for Stations within a 100KM radius of me, sortable by price or distance. Given Diesel Prices can vary up to 20cent per liter over here in Germany between stations and my card is 60 litres, this free App has saved me up to 12 euro on a tank on occasion.

    gStrings. (Don't be bold)

A chromatic tuner for guitar/bass, any stringed instrument really. Handy to have when someone hands you a guitar to sing a song and it's way out of tune.

Plane finder is handy. You can track your incoming flight in real time. You will know if plane is delayed or diverted as it happens.

Doesn't that APP also have a fall back solution of directing you by GPS to your nearest phone store where you can there purchase a phone that is NOT an apple piece of uselessness?

If not I might have to design one that does just that. I will be rich.

Or maybe an app that upgrades iPhone performance. You install it and run it and it simply powers off your unit.

Real drums. It's great cos I can't play the drums for sh*t, but can make awesome sounding beats with this thing. I actually use it to describe what's in my head to my drummer :pac:

You sound like my father, until he got a bloody iPhone and turned into an apple fanboy overnight..

You sound like my father, until he got a bloody iPhone and turned into an apple fanboy overnight..

Difference is I have owned apple products in the past. Only by winning them. They give them out like confetti in competitions. My first apple product came while working in my first job and I won an ipod mini* in a Today FM phone in.

And since then I have managed to win a lot of them, and own them, without ever buying them. Which meant I always owned one while I also owned an alternative product that I actually chose to buy.

So I do understand how people can get their hands on a product, get used to it, and become a fan. Tunnel vision. But when you are lucky enough to actually get to own and test different products at the same time you get a different perspective.

And my on going motto is: The only apple product I will EVER own, is one that someone gives me for free.

    * the great think with the first mini i owned was you could actually watch it degrade in real time. Every time I charged it to max, its play time was almost exactly 3 minutes less each time. It was like I was watching a battery that lasted 180 minutes the day i first got it... die slowly.... until 2 months later it reached a point where it would only play music WHILE plugged in.
