    Hey everyone,
We're looking for a Photo Booth for Cork (city) on Saturday November 9th. Our budget is €500 (including travel) and cannot stretch any further beyond this. If anyone knows anyone who could do it for that on this short notice please please get in touch!
    Thanks!

    Pardon my ignorance..

Why do you want a photo booth? Is this some sort of novelty wedding favour idea?

    Sorry I can't help.

A friend used a photographer and just bought props from the €2 shop and elsewhere (you should get costumes cheap after Halloween) and then just paid for a photographer for a few hours. Your guests wouldn't get a copy of it but it'd be a way to keep the prices down.

I've seen these getting more and more prevalent in last couple of years and of the 4 or 5 guys doing it, when you get a guy who knows how to do it well they are a definite winner. The booth and the props and the picture staging and lighting makes all the difference so if you can stretch to a pro guy Id suggest doing so, but if budget a big problem do it DIY.

2 of the guys Ive seen do it do wedding photography and then offer the booths as a low cost extra option as theyre there anyway and its only a couple of extra hours. theyre dublin based though so not sure that would work out for you in cork so Id suggest asking your main photographer if he does it.

It was for a college ball but I used wedding suppliers for everything. We wanted it for entertainment after the meal and for everyone to get to keep the pics.

That's a great idea for a wedding, we did buy our own props but the point was that they'd have the copy of it. Might keep that in mind for any nuptials of friends or myself ;)

Had actually seen them on weddingsonline and everything, love them but they were booked up of course!

We had a pro who's a friend of a friend for photographer who doesn't do photobooths, so we got a photobooth to come to us from Munster. We were hoping that as it wasn't a wedding we'd come away with a better deal (wedding = regular price x 3), and all your suggestions are great but as it wasn't a wedding it was a slightly different situation.

ON THE NIGHT what actually happened was we got print outs for about 30 mins, then the booth broke and no more print outs. People stopped going to the booth as they weren't getting photos printed, and it was all just a disaster. The lady we booked with wasn't contactable, she had two girls there instead of her and they eventually got on to her. We were just so upset with what happened, we went above our budget and I guess you get what you pay for, the cheapest quote we got left us and our 200 guests hugely disappointed.
Would not recommend, will not use again, won't name and shame but PM for details if you're looking.

Thankfully it was a ball and not a wedding, if that was my wedding I'd have been distraught! And they have not been helpful in the days following this now, ridiculous. If this was a wedding I would be bashing them hard on weddingsonline, that'd be the favours gone! Still very annoyed.

thank you for your replies everyone!

Weddings online don't allow bad reviews for advertisers. They're a business and it's not in their interest to allow a bad review. I'd still leave one anyway even though it wasn't a wedding.
Sorry to hear that. Bad service in this day and age doesn't deserve to be put up with.

Like any business really, cheapest is never the best. Another thing to note, the better run photobooths that I have seen all have the owner present on the night. If something goes wrong then usually they can fix it straight away and they will also usually have backups of everything.
Two girls earning a little bit of extra pocket money manning a booth aren't going to have much interest in you or your event unfortunately.

It was disgraceful actually she said to one of the other organisers "It was working fine when it got back to me" - what help is that!? If she had been there on the night it would have been rectified. Of COURSE the owner should be present, or at least inform us they won't and have someone competent in their place. They did have a backup printer but just couldn't get it to work.

I'm so offended that we were treated as a joke because we were a ball. I obviously post in the wedding forum here a lot and am involved in the wedding industry which is why I used wedding suppliers. WOL don't allow bad reviews but only if you name and shame. I can start a thread similar to this and say beware of photobooth from munster and give details of what happened and PM whoever I like. I'm just taking a bride's approach to this - what if this was the wedding? No favours for the guests, no apology, turning everything around on us, no owner present, no compensation offered. RRR! We've held off on payment so thankfully they won't get away with this. Thanks for your replies guys, I don't feel like a bridezilla :P

weddings on line are getting well paid by these people so it s not in their interest to advertise bad service, theres plenty of good photobooths out there, i think word of mouth is the best or take a look at their facebook page good photobooths wont mind being friends with their customers, sorry for rant but we had a great experience with ours for our wedding, i dont want to give name here though as boards policy might get my account suspended, sorry to hear about your bad experience

Your post is not helpful to me at all. Their facebook page is good and their service was crap. You can give a name if you had a good experience.

and re: weddingsonline, I could have done the same thing here, as in write about how annoyed I was but not mentioned the name and they'd leave it up there. But I won't do that. For anyone who is wondering, we haven't paid them and haven't heard from them in a while. I think someone was writing something up for the National Consumer Agency but I think it's blown over anyway.
