I have an issue with a connection on the rear lights on my E60.

It seems that the connector has overheated and is resulting in a loose connection.
It means that (sometimes) the nearside back lights are not working and the nearside indicator on the front is flashing really fast.

I presume that I can replace the part - #2 in the picture as the overheating has burned the socket. But my problem is that the plug has also been burned and needs to be replaced. How can I replace that if the wires all go off into the bowels of the car?

Is this something a mechanic can do easily - provide a new plug and add all the connecting wires to it?

    thanks

Did you install a more powerful bulb in there?

Would recommend getting the pin holders, connectors & bulb holder replaced & get the connections cleaned up & that should sort you out, no need to chase the wire back I believe.
