Hi to all... Im wondering can anyone give some advice. My brother bought a house back in Feb/March and started to renovate the house in May. When all contracts were signed and money exchanged and keys handed over. He received a letter from his solicitor at the end of May to stop all works on the house something to do with a Caretakers Agreement and Probate. Since then an other party has decided to contest the will. It seems my brother is in Limbo, his solicitor is doing absolutely nothing. The only thing she did advise was he would get his money back if he did not want to go ahead but he would have to put the house back to the way it was before he bought it, which does not make sense as he has spent €5,000 doing it up and would cost him another €5,000 to put it back to the way it was. He has payed a substantial amount of money for a house that he cannot do anything . What are his rights???

Your brother should stop dealing with the cheapest solicitor he can find and get a competent solicitor who deals in solicitor's negligence cases and explain what happened.
