Hi All looking for you opinions on this.I understand the RSA have done alot of good work in IRELAND over the past few years but lately in my own personal opinion they have become a money making group.Firstly they took over the DOE first thing they did was rise it up almost 33% and when you do pass you cant even get the Cert in the centre it gets posted to you!Im sure there are other examples what are peoples opinions .

Should be the same price as a NCT.

Why should it cost more to test a commercial land-cruiser vs a passenger one?

In the North both Commercial and Cars are tested in the MOT centre - no need for two separate systems.

Money Money Money.... Rip off Republic.

IMO a commercial vehicle in Ireland is seen as a way to drive a big jeep and not have to pay big tax.
Works both ways. If you want cheaper tolls and an nct then buy a passenger version.

They see commercial vehicles as owned and used by companies so think that by charging more for them Joe public isn't getting ripped off. Not realising that the company just adds the cost to their products. So the government can pretend to be looking after us and blame the company's for high prices, while they lump higher costs onto businesses.

I don't see why they charge more for commercial vehicles on toll roads. Why should a car without windows pay more than one with? The toll should be purely based on weight.

Isn't the DOE a more detailed test than the NCT? If there's more work involved in testing then it should cost more.

I passed first time actually so thats not the motive behind it.
My opinion is that every time the RSA get involved in anything its a farce.Look at the speed camera vans they claim they have saved x amount of lifes and caught x amount of people which may be the case .In reality they put the cameras not on roads where peoples lifes were lost but where they knew they could generate the most revenue!
