Fk AMD and their pile of shte software

Am I alone in thinking that Catalyst Control Centre is the biggest pile of bollox? I spent 10 minutes asking it to disable extended desktops to allow me to re-create an Eyefinity Group - something I had to disable to get Battlefield 4, a game that is supposedly tweaked to work better with AMD hardware, to run at more than 10 FPS.

SO cross with this, it's not like it's a new or experimental hardware and software combo - I have 2 6950's in Crossfire.

Reinstalling now to see if it makes the software work, I've already lost at least 10 minutes of Arkham Origins play :)

    End of rant...

Never had an issue with it to be honest but I've never tried running eyefinity setups. I'd imagine you are just doing it wrong.

Battlefield 4 is in beta and no doubt you didn't even update your drivers.

A bad workman always blames his tools :)

Did you try the windows key + p keyboard shortcut?

Hey, I've been a PC gamer for what is fast approaching 20 years. Long before you clicked "Install" and the game would just run, you had to modify configurations and inis to get a game to work. I'm also a software engineer by trade, so I know what I'm doing :) Drivers were updated, believe me. BF4 was given a pass because, as you say, it's a beta, so I'm not cross about that, but I am taking their claims that it'll run better on AMD gear with a large pinch of salt.

CCC kept saying I needed to disable Extended Displays to re set the Eyefinity Group - seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to have to do. It says "click continue to disable extended displays" but no buttons are responding, none of the other menu items are responding, CCC is dead in the water.

Kill it, restart it, try disabling extended display first before going into Eyefinity setup, still no response from any of the CCC buttons after you choose a menu item.

    The software doesn't work.

I just gave up around quarter to 1 cause I was too angry with it and it was a school night :)

So fingers crossed, the re-install of CCC and the drivers I started before I went to bed will have fixed it when I get home to it this evening. Arkham City on 3 monitors is fking awesome, so I'm expecting the same from Origins.

(Thanks for the Win + P tip though, I didn't know about that one)

I have to admit, I always found Catalyst to be an absolute heap of junk quite often.

With that said, the BF4 Beta is known to cause the most bizarre problems on a variety of cards and setups, it may have absolutely nothing to do with Catalyst.

    http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_11_beta3_(13_250_18_october_7)_download.html
    Win7 Ultimate 64-bit
    7950
    Phenom II X4 945 (stock :/)
    16GB (4x4GB @ 1333 auto timings, otherwise BSODs regularly)
OS on SSD, games on 2x1TB AMD RAID0

I'm running that after upgrading form 13.4 to 13.9 (WHQL and all) and finding the mouse laggy in windows and cpu usage going through the roof during games along with manic stuttering and (onboard=cpu) audio garbling all over the place.

Mouse lag issue is widely reported so WHQL can lick the sweat from my chocolate starfish for all their seal of appoval is worth.
And the CCC is a .NET shytehawk, ensure you have the 4.0 and 4.5 frameworks installed, though I think 4.5 got installed by the 13.11b3 installer.

    13.11b3 is back to normal.

Machine has degraded in recent months to not shutting down properly/promptly half the time (BSODs) and the occasional multi-second lag where the CPU spikes.

The same hardware's fine running intensive 3D games under Ubuntu. I will be trialing steamOS as soon as I can get it.

Just got notification of a new driver yesterday. GEForce R331 Game ready driver, v331.8. Currently running 306.23 which works fine, and no plans to upgrade because I'm not big into games.

Trust me, when it comes to multiple monitor setups Nvidia is total ass. It still cant remember to keep all monitors at native 1080p after restart in surround mode.

NVidia update panel would constantly freeze for me.
Never had an issue with CCC :p

And to think I thought I was the only one having massive issues with that piece-of-excrement 13.9 driver. Looks like me and my knackered old PC aren't going mad after all ;^_^

I'm only joking man relax. Sorry if I came off as an ass. Are you using the latest beta drivers or the full release? Maybe it's a bug with the beta drivers.

You're using a stock speed phenom II x4. BF3/4 are cpu killers. Time to upgrade your cpu i think.
