This is what im being charged annually for tax is this right?. Is this because its an automatic?. Are autos more expensive for tax in this car.
I cant contact the tax office or get an email reply so just wondering can €750 be right for an '08?.

Doesn't sound wrong if it was registered after July.

If it is on the emissions based tax system then yes. The Focus petrol auto of that vintage was not very low on Co2 emissions so that is why the tax is so high on it. I presume it was originally registered after 1st July 2008 or imported?

You can enter the Reg here and it will tell you the annual tax rate:

Yes registered in September. Is there parts of the year where it gets higher?. Its just that other same age and older models are €514. Thats what made me think is it something related to being automatic.

Car tax is far too expensive here. Rip off.

Ones registered before July were on the older cc system so are cheaper (like 07s)

A 09 1.4 litre petrol Focus cost around €500 too. Even a 2008 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi auto cost the bones of €750 to tax.

Thanks for the clarification guys. Im happy to pay as long as it was not a mistake!.
I bought in mid sept from a garage and was wondering why the log book didnt arrive. When i went to pay online tax it asked me to confirm my address which was wrong and i watched the garage salesman write the correct address so i thought of the person made an address mistake they could have put it in on the emmissions rather than the standard rate.

Cars first registered here from 1st January to 30th June 2008 had the option of whichever tax system was the cheapest. Cars first registered from 1st of July or imported were automatically put on the Co2 tax system.
